If I suck mud up into my outdrive, I sure hope there's a way for you to clear it yourself.

If you can suck your outdrive your one lucky man, most people I know need another person for that, so with that in mind B was the obvious choice.

Why am I being associated with running aground. I have never run aground. If someome follows me, they need to realize their own depth and make sure they can handle the water. I don't draw much, so I have a tendancy to cut a corner here and there. Every Captain is responsible for his own boat and should know where he is. If someone jumps off the Brooklyn Bridge, you gonna follow them?

When in doubt, choose "c". D's are even better, but I'd be very happy choosing C's in the absence of D's.

First let me say WTF!
Working backwards: I have made a great life for myself and would not trade it for anything, so your comment, “get a life,” should be more rightfully directed at yourself.
I have stated in the first thread where this issue was posted that it was my responsibility to navigate my vessel and I was wrong not following my charts and gut feelings.
You stated“I don't draw much, so I have a tendancy to cut a corner here and there.”
I understand this, HOWEVER you took the responsibility of the lead boat knowing that others with greater draft were following you as the person with local knowledge and based on the above statement you don’t give a fu(K about anyone else but yourself
I take TOTAL responsibly in putting my trust in you and believe me after spending close to $2000.00 in haulage & prop repair in the future if I every follow someone again I will make sure they deserve, that trust. Clearly that is not you.
What has been posted previously has been meant in all good humor, as you joke about many things. You seem to be able to dish it out, but not take it. Maybe it you who should “Get a life” Dave.

You were the one with all the fancy equipment, why didn't you take the lead? I have been thru that stretch of water about 4 times and I have always run that course. I even warned you ahead of time that I know at low tide that stretch is shallow. And I never said I was an expert at that area.

Since you brought me into this, let me also say, WTF. We handled this in all good humor, and never placed blame, just joking around as you do with your boat, wife, and dog. We didn't "take the lead" because you offered to do so as this was your neck of the woods. You "warned us" about nothing, but if that makes you feel better, so be it. End this Dave, Your last sentence says it all. Our failure to "recognize YOUR mistake." We know this. Our problem done and over. Getting a life is very good advise.

I draw close to what you draw :39" to your 42", When Dave radioed us I turned my head and saw you much north of us (much means 10 yards or so). Dave is the lead boat for a reason (south shore reason) because he has outdrives and can warn us way before we would have a problem.

"You "warned us" about nothing," that is not true, you might not of heard this, but Dave said this a number of times, as a matter of fact this came up because of the height of your boat (going under the Shinnacock bridge). If you remember you guys were concerned about the height of your boat and the tide. If we went at high tide their was a concern about your boat height and passing under the bridge, If we went at less than high tide their was the concern of water depth to Westhampton.
I think, JMO, is all would of been fine if you stayed on plane, the reason you came off plane was that Dave told us he was running into shallow water (which is what the lead boat should do).
Please don't take this as raging on you guys, but sh-t happens and Dave did his best and steped up to the plate to take the lead.
With that said, I don't agree with Dave saying "Get a life", I understand where that came from and it had nothing to do with any posts on this site, it was more the interaction that Ginny and Dave had with Mel on this trip, and these posts were the icing on the cake.
I would prefer that you read this,let it be dead, and let's keep the peace.

Can we take it there was some sort of skinny water troubles in the infamous Moriches?? Truth is that boats with a 2.5 foot draft get a little nervous, with 3.5 to 4 I would be thinking about skipping it altogether.
Either way sorry to hear of your troubles, sounds like the ego took the biggest bruise on this one.
