Raritan Elegance Installation - need help

Hoping Vic sees this, but goes out to anyone. I helped my friend install a brand new Raritan Elegance SeaFresh toilet on his boat this weekend. Took about 4 hours, not bad really. We followed the instructions to a T and we have a small issue. The switch that comes with the SeaFresh to switch between raw water flush or Fresh Water flush seems to be backwards.

We checked and double checked the wiring against the schematic, but the back of the switch where the wires goes in, looks upside down compared to the picture in the manual. So, we even tried switch the wires around, but either way, when you flip the switch to fresh water, the raw water runs and when you flip to sea water, the fresh water runs.

Somehow something is crossed, but not sure where at this point. We only have the simple push button flush. The only thing we haven't tried, off the relay there is 2 blue wires. The instructions say that one goes the sea/fresh switch and the other to the negative lead. Does either matter which one goes where, thinking no, but confused now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, but something has to be up with that switch...
 
The rear side of the switch has (3) screws to connect wires to it. There are tiny numbers molded into the plastic rear of the switch in the areas where you poke the wires in - and I mean they are TINY!!!. The one marked (L1) is the "common in". The other two (2) and (3) are the outputs to raw water or pressurized fresh water. If the switch works backwards, reverse the wires at (2) and (3).
 
Hey Vic... So I did what you said above and things didn't work. In fact made it worse. So I have it hooked back up the same way as before where the fresh = sea and the sea = fresh. When I put them like you described above, the sea worked but the fresh didn't pump any water. So I reversed it and then the fresh worked, but the sea didn't pump any water.

I then went about changing all other combinations and couldn't get it to work, so we went back to what we new worked (but just reversed). I am perplexed now, but we are OK with leaving it as is and just simply relabeling them.

Thoughts?
 
Couldn't have made it worse if you reversed the wires at (2) and (3). Did you find the numbers embossed on the plastic part of the switch?

Yes, found the tiny little numbers like you said and hooked them up like you said. The L1 to the blue wire off the relay (although there is 2 of them, we tried both) and then one from the sea pump to number 2 and one from the fresh pump to number 3, then tried reversing them. But with the relay hooked up to L1, one of the pumps would not pump depending on which one was in 2 or 3. It was pretty strange to say the least. Off the top of my head, I am not sure which one is in which now, but it is back to where we started. Both pumps work but the switch label is reversed.

As far as the rest of it, fairly easy, all the negatives go together and most of the positives with exception of the two pumps going to the relays, go the positives. All said, took us about 4 hours to complete, but most of the time spent trying to figure out why the wiring was reversed...
 
if its working like its supposed to only reverse from the what the switch panel says, just loosen the switch and rotate it 180 degrees
 
BarrenRiver, while that would seem like a good idea, the switch labels are on the switch button itself, so they would still be reversed...
 
Craig, terminal "L1" on the switch gets a wire running from it to the terminal on the control module, marked "Valve +"

One blue wire from the pump relay goes to terminal "2" on the switch. The other blue wire from the pump relay goes to battery ground.

The orange wire from the electric solenoid valve goes to terminal "3" on the switch. The black wire from the solenoid valve goes to battery ground.

If it's still working backwards, reverse the wires at "2" and "3"

If it still doesn't work right, something's cuckoo with the switch.
 
Could be cuckoo with me too, I will take this with me this weekend and check it out, but I swear we tried these combinations and a few more and ended up back where we started cuz it worked, just in reverse.

I also know that my friends whom I have been helping do this called either BoatFix or Raritan and spoke to someone who is sending out a replacement switch to try. We also had a problem with the push button switch (simple switch) where the back pushed right off and it ended in two pieces, like the plastic wasn't sealed properly.

Side note, outside of this switch problem, they are loving the new Elegance and now that I have seen it in action, probably getting one myself in the fall... have to fix some engine issues first. Based on what you and other have said on this forum, made me recommend this to them and allowed me see how to do it on my boat when the time comes.
 
Hi Craig,

Just wondering how you made out with the Marine "Elegance" installation from a few weeks ago? Did you ever get the switches figured out and working properly?
 
Hey Vic. No we didn't. Currently it is still wired up backwards, but it works, just the label on the switch is backwards. I can't tell you how many different combinations we tried. I started with the way you described to the letter and then we would only get one or the other to work but not both. Crazy, so we opted to leave it the way it was and just re-label the switch.

Outside of that, my buddy and wife love the new toilet. Said it is one of the best upgrades they have done on the boat so far.
