I have an older GPS/Radar that quit working, tried troubleshooting/etc and I'm giving up. Need a recommendation for a good Marine Electronics guy near Lindenhurst. I'm in Anchorage. It may end up being a new install, so was curious about pricing for new installs as well.

Thanks in advance guys!

Try Al at Navtech on Montauk Highway in Amityville.

Ed,

It may be worth a couple hundred dollars to have another set of eyes in the event it is something stupid and an easy fix. IMHO, and no disrespect to electronic guys, most are just part re placers with know real electronic knowledge. In other words, don't get to deep with diagnosing the problem. If the equipment is old and not made anymore, you should consider replacement. Just my 2C

Ed,
Also, call the manufacture, even if the system is discontinued, they will tell you how to diagnose the problem. More than likely, that is what the guy you hire will do.

Navtech has a shop where they repair electronics. That doesn’t necessarily mean that it always pays to fix stuff, but at least they can tell you what you’re facing re: repair or replace.

CMI ELECTRONCS …. No one is better . 1-631-225-3672

They are in the SS3 old delivery center. Im sure they are backed up but they custom install everything .

guys thanks for all the feedback! Now I'm really screwed because I had my Garmin 3006 that I used to use for GPS/sonar just quit (it finds and locks on to satellites, then loses them within 4 minutes), and my Standard Horizon Radar/
sonar died) I'll check to see about repair first and if it looks expensive I'll go new..
