Does anyone know if this is possible? If so, do you think the local municipality would take it? I just hate to see all that plastic go into a landfill.

I think the Dr. Shrink stuff has a program. They send you a bag to ship it back to them. A google search will help I'm sure. I'm sure your local recycler will take it as well. Ours does. It's very high quality material and too good for the landfill.

Why would I want to pay them $15 to recycle my wrap? They should take it for free!

The best way to recycle is to reuse the same cover for 3 or 4 years. I usually stay in the water for the winter so I replace the cover after 3 years as I don't want to risk the belly band fraying.

P.S. The top of my hardtop is 16 1/2' above the water line. That is a LOT of plastic to replace annually.

So you are saying you use the same shrink wrap for 3 or 4 years. I have thought about this but wasn't sure if it could be done properly. It is wrapped pretty tightly and then getting it back on must be a bear.

The first year you start out big with your frame. Reduce it a little bit each year till it's unusable. A good technician will be able to get the ties right so it can be undone with a minimal of damage. I've seen 3 years but not usually 4.

I not only use the same wrap for 3 years, but I've had the same frame for 6 years. It's made from strapping & I've only had to replace one piece.
