Does anyone know the procedure for removing the tray assembly from the U-Line icemake Model 95? I would like to clean it.

Removing U-Line Tray Assembly

Never done it. My method is some soapy water and allow it to make a bunch of cubes. Other years I put about a quart of bleach in the water tank and allowed it to make a bunch of cubes. Not a smart move. Took WAY too long to get the bleach taste out. The plus is that bleaching the water system like that removed a ton of crud that must have been buried in the low spots.

Three screws on the bottom, two on the left hand side that hang it on the inside of the cabinet. Sounds easy so far, eh? NOT!!! But before you do that you have to (carefully) remove the capillary tube from the thermostat that feeds in from the rear of the cabinet. It fits into a small tube at the rear of the ice mold assembly, and has to be pulled out before you can remove the ice mold. Additionally, there is a gaggle of wires that will have to be cut, then spliced back in when you re-mount it. Note: you CANNOT do it without first having removed the machine from any cabinetry it may be mounted in. You MUST remove the rear panel from the machine in order to access the thermostat tube and the wiring.

Thanks Vic for the info and the warnings! Maybe I'll wait till the season ends. In the meantime, the alcohol with the ice will kill anything in those black specs!

Seriously, try the bleach. It worked wonders for my entire system. Once the ice had run its' course for about a 10 day period, the black spots were gone. All I did was empty the cubes off the platform once per day. While emptying the cubes, I opened the cold and hot taps on all faucets.
Anywho....once the fresh water tank got below 1/4, I stuck the FW hose in the tank and let all the faucets flow. I figure I ran through about 150 gallons of water. The ice had a slight bleach taste for about another week. It's been great since.
On a 330 Dancer the whole evolution takes about 3 beers and a cockpit detailing to complete.
