I'm looking to do upgrade my Grady so I can pass a survey and get insurance. Oh, and keep it from sinking as well.

I have about 6" of space under floor of my head where the plastic 1 1/2" thru hull (without a valve) for the head is now. My only access is from a cabinet under the galley sink, I can just reach this fitting.

Here's what I plan to do, and can someone tell me if this is survey/insurance compliant?

1) Use a 1 1/2" mushroom type bronze thru hull, with the threads cut back to a shorter than purchased length, and use the jam nut that comes with it, no anti-rotational bolts with this setup, so may use 5200.

2) Screw a bronze 90 degree fitting to that.

3) Screw a straight inline type "ball valve" to that.

Thanks in advance for any advice. I'd rather not cut the floor in the head, even if I do I dont think a thru hull valve with a 90 will fit.
