Replacing the fridge in the cabin

My fridge in the cabin stopped workin on my 97 330 and wanted to know how to remove it and replace. It looks like it may be difficult to get through the door???

Anyone done it before?

We replaced the salon refrig. on our 54' last year. Had to remove the sliding entry doorway from the bridge to get it out and in. That refrig. had 4 long screws that went through the inside of the refrig into the wood on either side. You can then slide it out by "walking" it from side to side. Then reach behind to unplug. If you have an icemaker the hose is long enough to pull the refrig completely out to detach it. (turn off water beforehand) Hope this helps.
BTW, our replacement was a GE model that had a different shaped front (rounded edges) door that had to be re-veneered to look original. That cost 3 times what the refrig. cost... :(

My dock neighbor had to take the door off the fridge to get it out the cabin door on his 330 and you need help to insure you don't damage anything when getting the fridge out.

I had to do mine two years ago.. What a major PITA!!!! There is a black trim around the fridge with screw, remove these screws and the fridge should slide out.

To get it of the boat is the problem.. I had to remove the doors, compressor and metal grating on the rear to get it out of the boat. I removed the compressor and grate and had to rest it on top of the fridge while carefully getting it through the doorway.

The unit was a Norcold and I soon found out (the hard way) the new replacement for the original fridge will not fit through the doorway regardless of how many components I removed. Had to return it and search for the old (original ) version. After about 2 weeks I found one as a floor model for $1000 and no warranty.. So far it is working good and I really hope it stays that way for as long as I own the boat.

Manufacturers tend to install things like fridges before they put the deck on the boat, so there is a good possibility that the old fridge, and a replacement, will not go through the main hatch into the cabin. Measure your side windows if they are large, that might be the way in or out if you remove the window.
 
It is an Express Crusier.. No side windows just port holes...
 
If the old one will not go out the door then you might have to be creative on the replacement or pay a refrigeration company to repair the old one in place.
 
Thanks everyone, it is a sundancer so nothing but port holes. I wonder if one of the other brands will fit through the door. I suppose I don't care how many pieces I need to make in order to get it out but I sure do in order to get the new one in. Sounds like another adventure...
 
I replaced the frig on my 1995 290DA a couple years ago and was surprised to find that when I removed the door from the new unit it fit into the cabin through the sliding door opening with no problem. I'm sure you've finished the job by now, and I hope it worked as well for you.
