Never been on that side of Reynolds Channel heading towards Rockaway Inlet and exiting the inlet for the ocean

Planning on doing a small loop next weekend. Out Rock inlet, into Jones Inlet and then run the inside go out Fire Island and come back into Jones again.

Whats the speed zone through Reynolds along the inside of Long Beach and Atlantic Beach?

Any tricks or tips for getting out of Rockaway Inlet?

Easy inlet. No issues.
There are some 5 mph zones and some bridges.
Pretty easy run.
Stop at pops or Paddy McGees in island park.
 
Paddys is gone since Sandy but pops is a fun place. One of the restaurants at the eastern side of Reynolds in pt lookout is very good.

Dave And I navigated this in 2007 or so, like he said was easy and straight forward. Just check with someone that has done this post Sandy to make sure things have not changed.
 
I navigated it last July 2013 and it was fine. No issues.
 
I am through it a few times a year. Just came through last month. Straight forward. Just dredged.
 
Is the quarantine area still by the V bridge ? If it is ....stay clear of that area.

Also, to be clear. This is East Rockaway or Debs inlet. Not Rockaway.

Rockaway inlet leads you into Sheepshead Bay and does not connect to Reynolds Channel.
 
Mark, yeah I was too lazy to type east lol. I figured you guys would know exactly what I am talking about.

Inavx on ipad. The dotted line and sc marks are my trail an waypoints from last year. Works awesome.
 
Only hazard to mention is the dredge that is on the eastern side of the inlet. But there is no issue navigating around it. Only bridge may be the Wreck Lead LIRR bridge dependent on when you catch it and your clearance needs.
 
It was dredged at the end of last season and is an easy, well marked inlet (as a matter of fact, I came through it today). BTW winterbreak, the LIRR bridge is the "Rec League" bridge because the original bridge operator's son played in the recreational ice hockey league at the Long Beach Ice Arena (the bubble dome on the southwest side of the bridge), lol.
 
Thanks for all the info guys. I made the run last Sunday, Left Freeport around 8am, and made it into Fire Island Inlet around 10:30am.

Debs was pretty much a straight shot, just got a little tight, as boats were coming in as I am heading out, and there is a dredger on the east side of the channel heading out.

Ocean was a bit rough, but ill tell you, my little boat handled GREAT. Never got wet, and the seas were a decent size.

As I am approaching Oak Beach area a 40ft sportfish got me on the radio and was asking me what in the world I am doing out this far. I simply said "cruising" He wished me luck and gave me a heads up that Fire Island Inlet was not pretty.

As I come into Fire Island, I saw what he was talking about. Man was it snotty in that inlet. Made it thru A OK.

We decided to run the state boat channel back instead of running the bay. So we enjoy a nice little stroll 5mph for a bit.

Overall it was a great ride and we had a lot of fun.
