We like RYB as well although the last time we were there was during hurricane Irene.

If you want to spend the night in Haverstraw on the 3rd there will be fireworks there then you could head to Rondout in the morning. I know Knot Flyin will be heading up that way as well.

Hogan,
We will be at Rondout, 4 boats. will be a good time ...

Dave,
They just want to get settled. Buddy has his kids driving up . Appreciate the thought though....

A much needed vaca!

Rob

They put on a nice show from the bridge, you'll have a great view from RYB

Great fireworks show ....

Happy the rain stopped

Rob

Nyack Fireworks were terrible. There were only about 6 boats watching. It used to be jammed. I don't get it.

Guys, buddy needs a hand held VHF . Where to go near round out . They have a car

Thanx

Rob

Theres nothing near Round out.

You could hit Haverstraw marine store on the way back.

So how was it and did you stay at RYB? might go there for the coming weekend. Can you dink to the other side?

Been to RYB many times and it is really easy to dink to the town dock or take a trip up river if you like. It is surprising there are so many more boats up river (and even large tugs) all the way up to the old locks. Closest place to get marine parts is the marina at Marlboro but you need to cross the train tracks when you get to the marina itself - they can get anything you want pretty quick if they dot have it in hand. Also with a car there is a very large RV store/dealer in Kingston that carries RV stuff which in many cases is the same as boating parts and they can get electronics and stuff quickly.
We wintered at RYB this past year and left for summer cruising a coupe of months ago.

Hope this helps

Should have added - if you time your trip to RYB and have both a car (cheap local rental will work) and kids consider some of these events close by:

- Tinker tube river rafts
- Dutchess county fair
- Zip lines at Catamount or Hunter

Hope this helps

And the Aerodrome in Rhinebeck!

For parts Roberti's Marine is not too far. Dinking to the other side of the river is possible although I am not sure it is worth it. The landing is unprotected and far from everything over there except the hotel/restaurant in Rhinecliff.

Hi Dan - By the other side I though he meant the town dock but I have been known to be quite wrong with my assumptions in the past. You are obviously absolutely correct as the only time we dinked across was to drop folks at the rail station to head back to NY and LI.

Hope all is well - Ron

Thanks guys that's great information, this weekend is NO kids allowed weekend. Only my self and the admiral. We have been there before but it has been 5 smaller boat back then and no dink. It will be nice going up the river, I heard it is beautiful.
Thanks again.

Ron it's all good. 1400 nm on the towing bridle and no issues so far. We're hoping that trend continues!

Rondout is a great hang. We were there from 1987 to 2008. Gosh. 21 years? Wow. We miss the restaurants along Abeel St.. Ship to Shore being our favorite. We used to walk across the old bridge from the condo on Wine Lovers Wednesday. Fortunately we found the Firestone Grill down here and they have a similar deal but we need a taxi due to distance.

The Italian place, Savonna's has good calamari as I recall, hopefully that is still the same.

Sorry I didn't recheck this thread. The wifi wasn't so good at our spot ... WE hada good time .

I didn't know the " waterfalls " was the old locks.... So many things we saw and had no one to ask about .

We did see one of the largest tugs ive ever seen pull in the dry dock up the river... Id swear its powered by JET engines.

Good times. Some of the marina people not so transient nice ... but for the most part everyone was great.
