RPM's and Sync Meter not in "sync"

Odd run home. 1984 Crusader 350's (454's). Starboard side had new delco installed two years ago and starboard was timed up and verified. Both motors are pretty strong. Running home yesterday, using the old red light/green light sync meter, could not get the rpms to match. Seems like I had to run my port side at 400 RPM's higher (almost full throttle) to get the light to go green. When I run the RPM's close together, seems like it sounds right.

Bottom line, does anyone know of a quick replacement meter I can use so I can isolate?
 
Get yourself a photo-tach.
Cheap and extremely accurate.
 
Who made your passive synch indicator? Does it by any chance have a sync adjustment setting on the back?

I've found this Innova digital dwell/tach/inductive advance timing light very handy for use on older engines"

Or.... maybe something like this magnetic pickup tach for testing?:

Trust your ear for least out-of-sync exhaust resonance more than the dash gauges. But confirm the ignition parts are in good shape performing as they should.

Thanks I'll check that out. I'm pretty sure both motors are timed up perfect. Had it done professionally tail end of 17. One motor had all new delco put in. I'm planning on doing the other this year.
 
All 4 of my analog RPM gages needed to be adjusted to a photo tachometer. They have an adjustment screw in the back.
