I am replacing one of my seawater cooling water intake pump because it was old (original) and leaking. The instructions for installing the new one only mention how to properly hook up the hoses depending on standard or opposite rotation, no problem there. Question is, is it necessary to open the new pump and set the impellar arms to the correct bend direction? The supplier said no that since the impellar is new it will correct itself without damage when the pump is started. I am reluctant to open a brand new pump because of the delicate o-ring seal under the cap which sometimes is difficult to get back in place under the cap. Sure don't want to have a leak in the new pump. Anyone know for sure?
