Hi All,

To those who have nver made it, the Sacramento Jazz Festival is in a couple of weeks, and it is a great delta boating activity. I did it last year with the Delta Bayliner Club and it was fantastic! The best way is to stay at the Sacramento Yacht Club, and they put on a week long party that is truly first class - GREAT hosting club. They have breakfast, and dinners , dancing, wine tasting, - something every night, they have a shuttle bus to Old Town that runs every day, and discount tickets to the Jass performances. I think there was 300 (?) boats or so last year - a big event!
That is the upscale way of doing it, and a bit pricy, but hundreds of others raft on the American and shuttle themselves over - maybe even more fun!

Anyway, I'm going and maybe we'll see you there!

I hope to see you soon and check out your boat. I have been to the Sacramento area before, nice boat trip & good places to eat. Great people at the Sacramento Yacht Club...too! Last time I was there was in 1997. When I go to Sacramento, I go via Georgiana Slough. I'll be back on the water (in the USA) by the begining of June. I'm here in Macao for another 1-1/2 week.

(miss the delta way of life.)

When I bought my very first boat, I went up to the Jazz Festival. Had a blast! Made a few boating mistakes and learned from them........

Now there is a new hotel/restaurant/dock across the river from the Sac Yacht Club, making it even easier to boat up to the Festival. Go for it!

I have not seen it, except from the freeway, but the new hotel is hugh! People say it has a giant guest dock, and I think they run a shuttle to the Old Town festivities as well. I don't know the name of the Hotel, but it would be interesting to find out what kind of things they have planned. Does anyone know the name of the place?

It really is a fun time, with so much to do. To anyone who has never done the trip - I highly recommend it!

Hugo an d Flutter - we will see you on the Delta somewhere, sometime, no doubt!

The restaurant at the hotel is Scott's. The name of the hotel is Le Rivage Hotel. Here is a video:

Rotten weather! I went to the boat on tuesday afternoon and as most know, it was blowing like crazy on wed and thursday so I never made it over to Tower Park to get my 27' out and cleaned up - I think it would have made it dirtier if I were to have taken the cover off, and I really did not want to fight the wind in the water. To top it off, I had put the side curtains on the car in the garage when I left, so I would not forget them, and, well, I forgot them! With the rain starting on friday and the prospect of rain throught the weekend (plus a sick kid) I just hung around the marina. We had a great time anyway. My brother and I drove to several local towns, ate at several different places, and just relaxed.
By the way we found a great place to eat in Rio Vista. Down town on the main street, in about the third block up from the water, on what would be the left side of the street facing up the hill, is a little Mexican Taqueria, and it was GREAT! Food was authentic, lots of it, and a great price. Check it out - you will not be disapointed.

Sorry the weather was not favorable for your trip to Old Sac. Be sure to put that trip on your list of future plans. It is well worth it! Most of the Sacramento River above Isleton is sheltered from the prevailing SW winds, but I'm not sure what the river was like last week. Those winds were blowing in from the northeast. The harbormaster had to add lines to many of the boats to keep them from banging against the docks! My boat was filthy dirty with peat dust when I arrived on Saturday, but the winds had died down and the intermittent showers were no problem since I'm in a shed. So I got her all cleaned up, went for a nice cruise around Bethel Island Sunday afternoon; visited with a good friend who I hadn't seen for a couple of months and all in all had a nice relaxing Memorial Day Weekend!

Flutter,

Good to hear you took the boat out, there was some nice weather at times on Sat and what little sun we saw was sure welcome! It was an odd wind and was blowing the palm trees over my shed - I was just praying I didn't hear a snap and crash! If I had remembered to bring my canvas, I probably would have headed up the river, but I really did not want to have my boat soaked with "peat rain"!

Next year...
