I pulled the boat out today. And I picked a crappy day to do it. When I got to the marina there was only one other boat on D-Dock. (Did anyone get a letter to be out by the 20th? I didn't) I brought it up to Newburgh and had it pulled close to home so I can get some work done this winter. It was pretty sad to see it on blocks.

I ran into a ton of stupid issues, due to my crappy planning.

Late Start (Due to concert last night)
Forget wrench that I needed
One Battery was totally dead, and after filling up at Haverstraw, the other one died and had to be jumped
Fog set in
Rain set in

The only thing in my favor was the tides.

WHEW the day is over as is the stress.

Did you pump out the head? Tough to due on land. As for the bad weather I always find it easier to pull the boat on a bad day then a nice day. I don't feel like I going to miss anything.

We feel your pain. We have
a) pulled a window out of the front of the boat so we could remove and install a refigerator
b) pulled and changed a raw water pump that tossed a seal in a remote section of georgia where billy bob thought he had the pump i needed in his trailer.
c) swapped out another impeller that hammered the cover plate because calcium built up on the inner face plate and pushed the impeller blades out (start them up or flush with fresh when you haul)
d) disected a u-line ice maker three freakin' times and finally got it running.
e) the f'in water maker crapped out again.
f) me.

come on Dan you're not that bad. But sorry to hear of all the other problems.
So I'm guessing Billy Bob didn't have the pump you were looking for. Did he check under the set of his pickup truck?

Dave you had to be there. He was a Shrimper about 65 years old that had his boat tied up behind his house. He had rusty mechanical remnants (choose your own words) of marine stuff all over his driveway, back yard, and packed into an old reefer truck that had not been started in years. He made the marina owner's son climb through all of it. I put up with this for about 20 minutes and eventually interrupted them.
"Dennis, I don't mean any disrespect, but I have installed, by myself, a gearbox, turbo, inverter, new radio, AC compressors an...." I didn't get to finish the sentence and he turned and walked away because they all realized I was not the "Yachtsman from NY" that was going to be had. I offered to buy them a beer but there was no interest.
I have to admit he called a mess of mechanics for me looking for a deal on a pump. He had a great looking Shrimp boat and house but the house was completely surrounded with rubble left from cars, boats, and about anything else you could imagine. He also knew which piles had pumps and where the pumps were in the piles. I was dying to take some photo but considered that a bit risky.
He had a great looking Mercedes in the driveway and how it survives around all that stuff is beyond me.

Wake-N-Waves is now sporting her new Kover Klamp frame and winter canvas coat. Just need to get the winterizing stuff done this weekend and she is ready her a short 3 month snooze.

BTW - the Kover Klamp system BLOWS AWAY the old simple PVC setup we had the past 5 years. What an amazing system. I recommend it highly.

I just watched their video very interesting BTW it's a Kover not a Klover Klamp looks like it would be much better then PVC. I think it maybe heavy to transport when it's time to but away, but more compact. 15 year life span is nice too.

Heavy, nah. You make easily handled bundles of the various shapes you make. Very important that things get labeled and they have a very a nice labeling kit for that as well.

It's an extremely well thought out system. Still requires some creativity on the installers part the first year but the DVD covers the overall concepts very well.

Sorry about the mis-spelling.

Pumped out and ready to go. I winterized the head, water system and A/C. I'm having the guy winterize the engines and Genny among a few other things, because I just don't have the time.

I also realized that I have a bunch of things in the fridge still, including butter. Hopefully it will stay cool till I get over to empty it out.
