Thanks for posting. Very scary.

I see in the other thread the guessing of a fraudulent may-day call. The article states that the radio signal was recorded to be about 60 miles west of Monterey. That part seems real enough.

But I do agree with the others in one respect at this point. Who goes out 60 miles in a small sailboat with little children and no gps or liferaft???

No reports of missing boats or people as of the article's writing.

And they find the hoaxers! I can just imagine what it costs to send C-130s from Sacramento as they have done in this situation. Either way, no one wins.....

I see that the Coast Guard has called off the search. They are thinking it was a hoax. No boats or people have been reported as missing.

"Hundreds of thousands" of dollars were spent in the search.
