I finally made it there this weekend. Sailors Haven came through Sandy in good shape. In fact except for a handful of things you would barely know anything happened.
Marina is fine, no issues with the docks, power is on, etc. They replaced the power pedestals on the outer dock which is nice, unfortunately they didn't upgrade any (at least where I was) to 50/250 so I still can't plug in. I didn't expect to actually get a slip and was prepared to anchor out, so no power really wasn't an issue. Surprisingly one of the big slips was available at 11am on Saturday. No issues with water depth, seems the same as before. Buildings look fine, snack bar and store were open.
The primary dune line on the Sunken Forest side held so the forest area did very well. The main loop of the boardwalk path through it is fine and open, the further section that goes close to the bay and then goes back to the beach through a separate path was closed. The short boardwalk sections on the path to Cherry Grove were gone and you had to walk on the sand there, I suspect maybe the bay sections of the Sunken Forest path on the closed section got wrecked also.
There's a load of debris wrapped in bundles and sitting behind a fence on the east side of the marina. I heard it's not getting removed till the fall for some reason. There's one section of dune that washed over just a little east of the path to the beach. They built new stairs down to the beach from the boardwalk. Outside of these things everything was fine and it was nice to be back there and spend the weekend.
