Satellite TV

Anyone have any success with installing satellite tv on boat or dock with cheap (under $100) dishes?

Here in NY you can get Direct TV with a free dish wired to a dock piling for about $50.00 a month with basic service. It would only work when you're docked but a decent deal.

I use a portable dish which folds up and stores in its own molded case and I take the extra Dish receiver from the house. It works ok when docked after alot of adjusting to get the signal and as long as you have minimal movement at the dock. I have rigged up various mounts for the dish over the last few years and each had its perk. Currently I am using an old rail and rachet mount for a VHF which I attach to the hand rail leading up to the bow. the dish had multiple mounting options, 1 was a suction cup, this actually worked the best but would only hold to the cockpit table and thus would always be in the way.

I have also had success with an old 16"(??) dish antenna which I had taken off the house whrn I upgraded my service to dual LNB, this worked very well rigged up to rod holder attached to a transom rail but was too big a bulky to store as it did not fold up.

.........if anyone needs a extra satellite receiver dish.....with hardware....still in the box never installed.....I have one you can have ....come pick it up.
