I'd also look into yacht club membership. Many clubs are very economical and you get a lot of benefits from shared knowledge, to reciprocal privileges to new friendships. The type of cruising that you do lends itself to yacht club membership. One of the clubs I belong to costs ~$1,800 to initially join and $420 per year in fees. As a member, I have partial ownership of a brick and mortar facility and docks, an economical place to eat and drink and all of the other benefits of yacht club membership. I have made some great friends and learned a lot about cruising and boat handling from them. There are many clubs that have a lower fee structure too. The other club I belong to is a cruising club and there is no buy in, the annual fee is $180. Both clubs are members of PICYA and offer similar benefits with the exception of facilities.
