Helping a buddy pick up a 39' center console with dual Yamaha 350's that had a motor replaced in Sayville tomorrow.

Wondering what the best way back to New York Harbor would be, out Fire Island inlet or run inside. The boat is VERY sea worthy so running in some slop is not a problem. (But hey flat is always better!)

I've been through FI inlet several times but its been a few years since the last trip.

John,

Forecast is SW 5-10 seas around 2ft.

IMO Definitely out FI Inlet and run the ocean. That will be a much faster run.
Shoaling reported in the inlet so try not to hit it at dead low.

Ive been wanting to do that run, except out Jones Inlet, and with my 17footer...

Enjoy! Im extremely jealous!

Hey BoatCrazy, do you do pickup's in NJ? We might need a limo to get from Liberty Landing Marina to the repair place in Sayville. If you do can you email me a price quote that I can pass on to my friend?

BTW - Thank you very much Mark for the valuable information.

rommer,
Take the LIRR to Sayville then a taxi to the boat yard, The trip back will be quick, out FI inlet and west into NY harbor with that boat two hours should do it.
Rob

Rommer, sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I usually do pick ups in NJ, but right now, none of my black cars can go out of state due to new DOT regulations. Once I get my approval from DOT about my MC numbers I will be able to go out of state..Someone always has to be a ball buster..
