With Vic on vacation I'll ask this question for anyone who may be able to answer. I replaced my Crown II head with a new Sea Era from Raritan. Do I need to rewire the switch or am I able to use the existing switch (Crown II)?

I too recently replaced aCrown head with the Sea Era. If you re-use the existing switch, make sure you use the solenoid switch too. The Sea Era comes with a heavy duty push button switch that does not require the use of a solenoid switch. When I installed mine I eliminated the solenoid and used the new switch by itself.

To answer your question, you can do it either way, but as has been noted - if you're using the original push button switch, keep the solenoid, too.
If you rewire it, using the switch that's supplied with the SeaEra, you won't need a solenoid because it is a heavy-duty switch.
In the original case with the Crown Head II, the switch is only rated for about 5 amps and will burn out in short order if a solenoid isn't used with it, to carry the heavy motor load.
