So, here I am clamming with a friend and we were pulling them up left and right. We were in Merrick Bay heading towards Reynolds Channel and it was a beautiful day. Not a green fly to be found miraculously. The following evening I have this bizarre rash with intense itchy welts all over my feet and shins (where I was kneeling with a garden trowl in the mud. Not going to get graphic, but it was baaaaad. Looked it up on google images and viola... there I was on every photo. It's been 5 days now since they appeared and the blisters all broke (probably from using my car keys to scratch!) and I think it's starting to heal. Moral of the story is... has anyone ever encountered these awful little spawn near SSLI?

Got bit by them earlier this year, it sucked. I didn't waste my time or money on any of the home remedies and went to my doctor. He prescribed me a steroidal cream which got rid of the itch and cleared up the bites within a few days. Money and time well spent, good luck.
