Can the boat be operated from the lower helm at cruise speed? At 22knots can one trim the bow down enough to see other boats. I'll risk the log etc. Sea Ray 390 Sedan, produced 1983 to 1986. Thanks

The only reason I could see for ever operating from the Salon station would be because of bad weather in which case you wouldn't want to be running at cruise speed to begin with........would you???....
After all.....isn't Boating all about being out in the sun and fresh air?...and if that's the case...then why would you be at the salon station?

Air conditioning!

I don't see why you couldn't/wouldn't. Many times I wish I had a lower helm, but most of these were in the dead calm of summer and I was running well off shore and sweating. I wouldn't run from a lower helm on my 370DB anywhere there was traffic. Just not good 360 visibilty IMO.

New York is far different than Florida. Running in Florida in August isn't fun. We have to run 1 hour through the bays, not much traffic here in Pensacola area, and then at least an hour to the fishing grounds in the Gulf, again not much traffic. Than I become a deck hand vice the Captain. Need airconditioned capability or it really isn't fun. Like to be with the family, 6 to 8 of us while running to the fishing area-hence search for a lower helm, salon type boat.

Whoops.....My bad.....I didn't think of that....( sorry )

I go top side to get away from them...I've got a family of women. plus a Carver 3607 vis aft sucks from down there

Skeetobite: What engines do you have and HP and what do you cruise at and RPM? Thanks
