Sea trial - surveyor needed?

Congratulations, James. This could not be a nicer day than it already has been, except for this news. Too bad (easy for me to say) that you are not bringing her back to Lake Champlain over its own bottom, though. In all probably, you will not duplicate that trip again and it will have been well worth the time and expense, not to mention the experience. Best of luck.

Congratulations, James! Where will she be berthed?

Nancy

Contratulation as well James. Glad you ended up with the boat. I am also pleased to hear you had a real survey way to go! I love my Mainship they are known for reqally having large living spaces for their size. May you8 have many happy hours boating on her.
Bill

Thanks Nancy,
We will be at the same place as the last two years, just one dock over out at the end. It is a discount dockage right near the sailing school, Riedenger Marine Services owns a camp and runs 3 docks out in front. We get a very good deal, and the winter storage price can't be beat.
Someone wrote on here a while ago that if you have to ask, you can't afford it. I have never subscribed to that as a family with a moderate income. If you find deals you can make it happen. We got a great deal on a great boat, and have deals for dockage, storage, etc....
Have you had any leads on selling yours? If it had a second stateroom I would have considered it, with young kids that was a necessity.
James

I boat, OK, I kayak, not too far from you on Lake Memphremagog. I get a great deal on year-'round storage as well.

BillyIII,
Thank you for all your advice, it all turned out great, shipping aside. I love the Mainship, excellent design with the elimination of the window in the front. The headroom in the kids bunk room and head is unreal. And each with two windows. Pictures did not do it justice.

Bill2,
Thank you also. Interesting that you kayak up in Newport. I grew up there. My parents were farmers and not boaters, so I did not get out on that lake much. We took our 26 footer up there the summer before last and boated it, only on the US side. It got small quickly, should have ventured up into the Canadian side. But it was great to experience the lake I grew up near.
My parents still live nearby, and my Mom kayaks it when she can.

James if you have any questions or have problems please PM me I have a lot of knowledge on these boats. If and when you are ready to upgrade any system I have already done it and can help you not make the mistakes I made, (the learning curve)!
It would be my pleasure to help. I am currently working with another member that is purchasing the same boat I have, he like you and I love the interior room. The boat also handles rough water fairly well.

James,

It sounds like an ideal boat for your family! I hope it gets on the road and gets her soon! Where will you launch?

I thought I knew everyplace in the bay, but I guess not! I've never even heard of Riedinger. Do they do engine repairs? What other types of services?

We haven't had any inquiries lately on our boat. We've reduced the price, and gave an open listing to a broker who keeps his boat at our marina, so it's now on YachtWorld in addition to the advertising we've been doing.

I'm sending you a PM also.

Nancy

Hi Nancy,
Did not see a pm message. Anyway, Marine services is kind of a stretch, he mainly provides docks and moorings in front of his camp, parking, winter storage for some boats, and does some dock and mooring installs for people around the bay. No repairs of any kind. Thats about it, not surprised you have not heard of him. His docks are the 3 long docks between inl. sailing school and calm cove marina. Nice guy, and gives us what we are looking for at a price that meets our needs.
Hope your boat sells this season. Don't forget to try craigslist, I sold our 26 footer on there. Pictures, and posting often help.
James

Hi, James--

Hmm, don't know what the problem is with the PM, but I've just now tried e-mailing you through your profile. Had a couple more questions & wanted to give you my e-mail address.

Will Riedenger be able to launch and haul your (big!) new boat?

Thanks, yes, Craigslist ads are on my list.

Nancy
