Last winter I left my skiff in the water for a couple reason. One being we had a bunch of Christmas parties to attend, where we could go by boat. Second reason was to take a ride in late winter early spring and see the seals.
On a very windy day we bundled up and went to see the seals. Headed into the wind the whole time in the channel. We were just about to zachs bay and I kicked the gas can. Way too light. I had to turn around. The look on my then 4 year olds face killed me. Fortunately we had the wind at our backs for the return trip. Made it home on fumes. Next time out I swapped the 6 gallon tank for the 18 gallon. Look on my kids face was priceless as we got very close to the seals.
We have an Osprey nest near our house. They really squawk when they have a fish. My daughter just loves spotting them and seeing the fish in their talons. It's just awesome to bring a kid up by the water. Seals, Ospreys, just caught these crazy crabs in the trap. It's great for the kids...me too.
