Show on right now on NBC sports network.
It's about shark fishing off montauk.

Its fairly realistic with some characters on the cast....but, not a fan of kill tournaments. Brings out the worst in people. What a waste of the resource as well.

My favorite is the 8yr old boy who handles the boat while the adults are creating chaos in the cockpit. No wonder they are "Fish Off" hahaha.

thanks for the heads up.

i've never been shark fishing before, so maybe it's just my impression, but it seems like there's twice as many people as necessary on each boat. do they really need so many or are the extras just along for the ride and a shot at reality tv stardom?

Haven't seen the show yet Bruce, how many people on each boat? When you're bringing in a good sized shark ideally it's nice to have at least 4 people on the boat - one running the boat, one on the rod, one grabbing the wire when the shark is close and one handling the gaff or tag stick. You can manage with less, but there are 4 possible roles in boating a shark and it's easier if you have someone different handling each. Then when you add up the costs of being in the tournament a couple more guys to split the bill with is nice too :) I usually go with about 6.

Yup, between entry fees, calcuttas, fuel, bait/chum, tackle and food...it can be a costly day.

Its a tv show so they have more crew then needed as well (cameras and crew etc). One boat has 5 captains with attitudes, another has a large crew plus two young kids. And the 8yr old handles the boat...some of the worst teamwork and gaffing skills.
