Jeff,

I did not want to hijack the weather thread, so figured I would ask you in a separate thread.

This is the first time I ever heard someone do a trip from here to Sheepshead Bay. When I was a kid, We used to ride our bikes from Canarsie to Sheepshead Bay and spend the entire day there. We would eat like kings at Roller Roaster, fired calamari at Randazzos (I think that was the name). They had different levels of hot marinara sauce for the calamari. Believe it or not, even caught lobsters off the pier there. What made you go to Sheepshead Bay? Was it a worthwhile trip? I think it would be a great destination for my kids to see where I spent many summers, unlike their childhood at ridiculously nice camps or our boat. Then again, I once took them to my old neighborhood to try to show them how lucky they are and and I think all they felt was fear and happiness when we left..... Always trying to instill - "if you want something, you work for it!"
 
Grew up in Brooklyn East 29th Between I and J and hung out in Sheepshead Bay and Marine Park… Went to Midwood High then Kingsborough before it was a real campus. We also would eat at kings at Roller Roaster, fried calamari and Conch / Scungilli at Randazzos and Joe’s Clam Bar. The hard rolls on the side of sauce cooked for hours, I always got the hot, but had to have a doz little necks or cherry stones first. It was the best.

You were luckier than I; we ended up with eels not lobsters, but did catch a keeper fluke once and lots of crab. Also went out on the fishing boats often.
 
Hey Jeff,

We went for Lauren's xxth HS reunion. She knew there was no way I was giving up a late June weekend night to drive into Brooklyn so she combined the two.

We stayed at the commercial docks there because we didn't want to deal with the mooring/tender that the private marinas only seemed to offer for transients (full disclosure I only called two places before giving up). It was $2/ft. No water. No electric. No real security (other than the police boat coming and going once in a while) but we left Andrew on the boat and also knew that we were only like 500ft away at the restaurant for 3 hours. If we were making a weekend out of where the boat would be alone for any stretch of time (and we knew we weren't having non boating guests) I would take the mooring option.

Anyway, there's definitely a lot going on along Emmons Ave late at night and plenty of restaurants for dinner.

Smart way to turn a non boating event into a boating event! Sounds like a good time had by all.

Saw you coming out of the anchorage last week, when we were coming in. We waved, but were not sure if you knew it was us. Your boat looks great!

Haven't been to Randazzo's in years. Might have to give it a try with the kids one night this summer.

Since I have a boat with no engines... looks like a roadtrip. I wonder if there is any place local that could come close ?

Where did your engines go? Are you going to replace them?
 
Jeff... Great idea and approach at Sheepshead. I would still be worried about the safety and security. Gave me/ us something to think about. Thanks

See my other thread, long story..... But I am being f-ed. Bank, Insurance, Marina..Where my boat landed... 4 way's Can't state more.
 
Yikes! Sounds like a nightmare.
Is there enough damage for them to total the boat? Or does it just need a couple of new motors? If so, re-powering a it might not be such a bad thing.
