Just a short note to acknowledge the Owners Club (SOC) enjoyed a great rendezvous at Bay Bridge Marina (across from Annapolis) this last weekend... and in spite of the rain! :)

Concurrent Open House at BBM; boat tours on both Friday and Saturday; poolside cook-out, prize drawing and awards presentation on Saturday evening; dockside pot-luck breakfast on Sunday morning; great turn-out and a fun time meeting folks we talk to on-line!!

Our club (Classic Yacht Club of America) held a rendezvous the weekend before the open house. We had great weather and great service from the marina. They did a top notch job on the new docks. I just hope they get more people coming back to the marina.

Craig,
Isn't BBM owned by the same company that owns SJC? I even heard once that Rich was GM for both.

Yes Mike, the same company that owns BBM also owns Skipjack. I know Rich went down there a couple years ago for the summer and was running both marinas.

Robert Linn is "Director of Operations" at BBM now, and he's been there as early as last August when we moved over there for the hurricane. Good guy, good venue, and they certainly treated us great.

Interesting to hear same ownership as Skipjack Cove. One of our owners is in the process of moving out of Skipjack due to what they've described as poor management there.

I did not realize this either. A check of the property records shows that both Bay Bridge Marina and Skipjack Cove are owned by the GREAT AMERICAN LIFE INSURANCE CO.

Their websites are done by the same company. It makes sense that they could share the same manager.

We had great service and attention while we were at BBM. I guess I talked to Robert in the office and he was very nice. He also walked down to the dock where our club was and checked on how we were doing.

You mentioned one of your owners is leaving. I know of 5 boats that won't be back at Skipjack next season.

Are they leaving for the same reason? I know Bay Bridge is priced a lot higher than their competition on Kent Island but I don't have any idea how competitive SkipJack is in their market.

They are not leaving because of pricing. Actually, where they are all going is priced higher. One boat is tired of management not correcting a problem he has with one of his docks. They others are also tired of the lack of response from management and the lack of up-keep with regards to some of the facilities.

I have been at Skipjack for six years and they have not raised my rates since I’ve been there.
