We had the largest parade in almost 10 yrs! A live band played on the biggest boat, a 72 ft houseboat. Even the US Coast Guard was back! About 30 boats participated. We also had vessel safety checks available at the docks all day. 3 volunteer CG Aux worked hard most of the day inspecting a total of 11 boats. The smallest was a 10 ft dinghy and the largest was a 45 ft cruiser. We also had many people getting their fire extinguishers inspected, though I do not know the exact number.

When the pictures get posted, I'll post the URL here.

I hope my name is not mud. By 11am I was in the water clearing a prop in Mildred. From there I was helping three different boats out in Suisun Bay. I tried to call the YC on 16 and 68 to let them know but got no answer. Glad to hear all was good.

Sorry you missed it! I don't anyone even turned on the VHF that day. The "old school" seems to be gone. I'll mention this at the board meeting as a "gentle" reminder we are boating club and should monitor Ch 16/68.

Years ago I had a boat that I kept at Wood's harbor, somewhat across the slough from the yacht club. I always found it somewhat annoying that a majority of the parade participants would only decorate the starboard side of their boats! Yeah, I know, there is only that one short stretch that has anything on the port side, but still......

I always thought that the yacht club should hand out an additional award to the best decorated boat as viewed from the port side!

I've passed all the suggestions and comments on to our club leadership........

I'd love to see the photos, Liz, if you have them posted?

What a great weekend this is going to be, eh!?

Here is a CC Times article & Pic. Our own photos have not been posted to our website yet......

Have you been to Alviso lately?

At low tide they don't have any water. What boats are there are firmly stuck in the mud.

It's been that way for years! San Jose built some very nice docks at big bucks [$$$$$$$], but refuse to fund any dredging to keep them available to boaters. So stupid! But the yacht club continues to be active......

A minor point of correction--South Bay YC, formed in 1888 and reorganized in 1896, is not the oldest YC in the Bay area. Both San Francisco YC (1869) and Corinthian YC (1886) are older.
