So, how has everyone's season been going so far? Happy with the insane fuel prices?

Haven't really gotten started. Took three days over 2 weeks to change an impeller. Another 2 weeks to recover. :)

Golfman. I feel your pain as well. I will be 75 this year and even washing the boat takes 2 days instead of 3 hours.
Spring commissioning took me 2 weeks but we are finally ready and will leave Thursday for Canada Day/4th of July on
Lake Ontario for 5 to 7 days.
Voltarin is my friend this summer.

I have yet to deal with fuel prices but it will be what it will be.

It’s snapper season here, but with a 2 fish limit and at least a 50 mile run offshore it is cheaper to buy it in the local market. Right now having sold the bigger Whaler with the 250hp and only having the baby Whaler with the eTec 30hp I’m feeling dang smart. .

Well my season came to an abrupt end. I sold my boat! It wasn't officially for sale but someone made me an offer and I took it. Now I am looking to downsize so I am looking for a early 2000's Sea Ray 340.

So far, so good- still working off the topping off of the tanks before i put it away for last winter
Since we're spending the 4th in Asheville i have a feeling i wont be buying fuel until the end of July

While we are not on the boat, we can attest that diesel is insanely expensive. Today I put a mere 47 gallons of diesel (nothing compared to boating I know) into the RV and spent 282 bucks or 6 bucks a gallon over the road (in Maine). I cannot imagine what the tab would look like at a marina up here. FJB
It takes me back to filling up in the Bahamas back in '08 or '09. Oh, by the way we have to up charge you for using a credit card (in the Bahamas).

At least we get nine mpg now instead of 1 in the boat.

It took about three months for ours. Insane setup on our outdrive required it to be pulled out of the water. Only one ramp that could accommodate it with our low water situation and the haul out ran a couple thousand, alone. Outdrive had to be rebuilt and parts are hard to come by. All in, it was about an $8,000 impeller replacement. (We upgraded our depth finder/GPS, too)

$8000 may have been worth it. You didn't have a body full of cuts and bruises. My pump is tucked in right behind a bulkhead. So I am leaning over arms squished in between. Dropping parts deep into the bilge. Had cuts and bruises on my arms all the way up to my biceps. My chest was all bruised from laying over. Much easier when I was more flexible. But at some point, it became a quest not to give into defeat. :)

I haven't bought fuel yet but planning on doing so Saturday as we head to Rondout. Tomorrow (Friday) are fireworks in Ossining which should be good. Although I have no running lights and horn! (have replacement parts I need to get to!!) Time is critical lately. I did manage a nice raftup last weekend at the point and one a couple weeks before that as well. Really glad I have the 18' center console with the Honda Civic 4cyl, 4 stroke gas sipper. That's the tool of choice this summer.

My season is basically over. The heat and crowds are back..... Wake boats too.

We topped off our diesel tanks a couple of weeks ago, cost $1200! Got out last weekend and had a great time. Lots of boats staying at the docks this summer. Supposed to head out east on Thursday for our annual trip.

I topped off at Panco on Saturday $5.49 (Gas) then at Rondout Yacht Basin after the trip up $6.90!! Yikes!!

We burned 84 gallons getting from here to there! Headed to Saugerties on the 16th so we left the boat on the creek for two weeks, cheaper than driving. I normally avoid travelling on Saturdays of July 4th weekend but had to do it this time. We were very lonely on the river. RYB was not crowded. Our marina still has 11 open slips, we had zero open slips last year. Gas prices are definitely affecting boating.

Lots of people are not taking their boats out this year, fuel prices are insane. Had to delay our July trip out east, hoping to go in August.

We just spent 2 days/1 night on the hook in the crystal clear water of Biscayne National park. 35 USG for the mains, 30 for the gen. About $300 or so. Still best bang for the buck.

Yesterday Panco was $4.79, quite a drop in a couple of weeks. July 2nd it was $5.49
