Haverstraw Marina, "The Resort on the River"! One of the best moves we made was to come to Haverstraw. My kids love the marina and have a great time with their friends! Nothing like a hot Sunday sitting at the pool listening to the band with everyone!

I'm all for leaving the dock but it was just uncomfortably hot the pool was the best option!

Yep, why would you want to take your boat out and enjoy the river? Why even own a boat, just sign up for the pool

Bill-if you do decide to come in, I have noticed a little low water just as your passing the break wall. Once past it goes to twenty feet quickly. I read around five feet at low tide so you may want to plan. I will see if port or starboard gives a little more water next time through or perhaps someone else from here may have better details.

Thanks. I'll let you know if we end up going there.

But at the moment it looks like we will be at Half Moon Bay. The dock master there reached out to me via email after being informed of our interested in coming up the river for a couple of days and has been very accommodating.

Enjoy. It's a nice little marina

Hi Bill, are you there now?

There is a large boat with a blue hull docked on the finger by the seawall....from the road, I'm guessing 80-100'er

If you want pointers on what to do in the area, please ping. The closest restaurant is "Memphis Mae's" BBQ, Craig is the owner, nice guy. It is in a shopping center next to a drug/convenient store (SavMor), gourmet deli (A&S) and other shops (croton bagel and creamery).

Or walk along the water or dinghy to the guest docks at the next marina, Croton Yacht Club (my place) and there is a foot bridge over the rail road tracks. On the other side is the Ocean house (great seafood, bring your own wine) or The Tavern (a local pub with burgers, pizza and such). All good choices.

If you need anything, please email or PM me.

We will be there the 26-28 of this month.

My email is capt(dot)bill111(at)gmail(dot)com

Thanks for the offer and the info.

Made into Half Moon this afternoon after a nice ride up from NYC and a tour around West Point. Great little marina here. Steve the dock master couldn't be nicer or more helpful.

Owners and guests very happy. And as you all know the weather is great as well.

So far do good.

Back to Newport Marina across from NYC for a few days. Then we start working our way to Annapolis and DC.

Is that you anchored off Verplanck?

Not sure where that is. But no, we are at Newport Marina in Jersey City across from Manhattan.

On our way down we passed a 212' Amels going up the river. Not sure where one that size would be going. Unless they were going to anchor out. Or perhaps someplace like Albany?

Thanks. We have a great Captain, been with us for many years, plus we put the $$$ into the ship to keep her pretty.

It shows. She looks great in general and especially for her age. Nice work to your family, the captain and your money. :-)
