After much searching and a few surveys gone south. I have finaly found a 330 in my price range. That for the most part is in good shape

Of course in the 30k price range it has a few issues that need to be resolved.

1. drive plate needs to be replaced
2. leaking manifold (hopefully gasket)
3. kohler generator needs some work

With the one engine removed to do the drive plate and manifold. is there anything else should i look at doing since the engine will be out?
also is there any way to verify the hurth v drive is in good shape while engine is out? since I don't want to waste a removed engine

wish me luk

What is your price range and do you already own it?

Congrats! Give us an update after a few rides. I guess the hauler figured it out?

david
30k and by tomorrow i will own it.

I found a hauler who did not require me to remove arch, just radome and antennae, hoping to get it hauled next week
will probably be about 2-3 weeks before i take her out , as I have her scheduled at the local shop for the drive plate, manifold, and genreator r&r.

gonna also touch up the bottom, and put some new zincs (either mag or aluminum). any one know the size zincs i need for this

Just sold our 1995 330DA, great boat, you will enjoy her...feel free to ask me questions as I know the boat pretty well.

Maybe I'll take you up on your offer, MrsRobinson. I'm looking at a '95 330 Express Cruiser. Is it basically the same as the DA model? The one I'm looking at has inboards.

The only difference is the EC should have straight drives.....where the DA has " V " drives..........both great boats !!

Yup and of course you lose the aft setee/cabin space in a cruiser.

If I'm not mistaken, other than the basic EC vs DA mid-cabin layout difference, there is a major design change between the 95 express (EC) and 95 sundancer (DA). 1995 was a changeover year. The older 90-94DA gave way to the newer design 95-99DA design. However, Sea Ray dropped the EC until they later came out with the wide body ECs....first the 370EC and then the 330/340ECs...I think in 1997 or so. In 1995, I'm pretty sure that SeaRay carried over the older 90-94EC design for one more model year.

So...what does all that mean....it means the 95 EC you are looking at is more than just a little different in the salon....it is the older model design. It will have a rear facing arch, no underwater exhaust, no foot pedals for the windlass, no hydrualically operated engine room hatch, different cockpit layout, just to name a few....

Folks on XXXX XXX XXX. dot com can answer your questions more certainty....

....SORRY DOM.....

Yes......Your right....late production 1995 went to the forward facing arch.

IMHO....its a much nicer design !

Let me ask about power in these boats. I see a lot with 5.7s (350) and 7.4s (454). Are the 5.7s enough? Thanks.

I have never been on oeen with the 5.7s.

However, our previous slip neighbor owns a 2000 Cruiser Yachts 3370 with 5.7s paired up with Bravo 3 outdrives. I thouht the boat was under powered until I rode on it. The boat will out run our previous 330DA with 7.4s and V-Drives. I prefer the V-Drives though for maintenance.

I believe the Merc 350 MAG......puts out the same horsepower as a 7.4 EFI.....with less weight.

Its a tough call...........

If it's a smaller engine and all else is equal I say go for it. More room to move around and work on them in the Engine Compartment if they are indeed smaller.

I see Don edited my reply....I thought it would be fine to post a reference to an 'owner specific site' where more information would be availble to help educate the prospective new boat owner, especially since I've recently seen a few other posts in other threads referencing 'other specific owners group sites' where forum members were seeking specific manufaturing details ..... I guess I just thought the rules were changed....Maybe just not for Sea Ray....

For reference:

this thread reference a 'specific owners site'...
http://www.boatered.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=128524

...as does this thread...
http://www.boatered.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=128810

...there are others, but those two are recent in my memory.

No hard feelings Don...

Dom.....You may be correct....about being an " owner specific " site. Maybe its allowed to be referred too ?? Im not 100% sure.

So...I'll re-edit your post......put the site address back....and e-mail Les.....let him make the call.....its his puppy.

Don, you were right the first time. No links to other forums period. I don't know who owns or controls what and don't have time to research. And that was a "majority rule" not just mine.
