Well I had a good run I have been at this marina for 10 straight years and enjoyed most of my time there however the last few have been a struggle with my current boat due to the lack of water. I made a decision that did not come easy but I'm making a move to Haverstraw for next year and I looking forward to meeting many new people and making some new friends. I do know I'm not alone in this decision not everyone that is leaving will be joining me at Haverstraw but there will be several open spaces on D dock for anyone that is interested, I had one of the best slips in the marina and it will be available for the asking next year.

Haverstraw marina has been incredible gracious and welcoming to my friends and I they invited us to their annual party which I mentioned in another thread giving us an opportunity to meet some of the members and I am excited about moving there next year!

Best of luck to you Dave! I hear a lot of the same when it comes to SPBM.

Dave I just heard Wayne sold the marina to the Hooters franchise, your loss.

It seems it's gone downhill since I moved in, maybe it's me! In all seriousness it's been fun sharing a dock with you guys and will hope to see you around on the river. Best of luck in Haverstraw!

Welcome to deep water, calm winds and great people. Come visit at G37 when I'm back in the water. What slip did you pick?

I love your signature Hunky!

Seems we have some things in common.

Ed, Blue 103 nice slip but does have a dumb pole for no reason that for some reason they said it can't be pulled. I'll make do, any slip would be hard to compare to what I'm used to I think I may have had one of the nicest slips on the River If only it had water beneath it.

Poles are your friends. Don't be afraid to use them.

Used to have 18 ft of water at low tide in Haverstraw! Wonderful marina & lots of great boaters...just got tired of walking a half mile to get to my boat for 10 years!!!

Very light wind & current on red/green/blue docks south side of main dock. Its like a pond! North side of main dock another story. There is certainly wind & current to take into consideration & the closer you get to the fuel dock area the stronger it gets. Often when the wind comes in over the peninsula it does strange things. When you look at the flags to check wind direction it will sometimes change direction multiple times as you head down the fairway. Those days are interesting!

I used to wind and current there is not must left of the sea wall at SPBM. I will be near the north end of Blue and yes I did already see that there is movement at my slip but nothing at bad as what I'm used to.

As for the pole, Hogan a properly placed pole can be useful but a steel pole near the foot on the dock (about 1 1/2 feet in from the main) can only be a hindrance. There is no pole between the boats which in my case is probably a good thing considering the beam of the boat and the logical placement it would have been.

I'm sure next year will be great in my new home and I'm looking forward to being reunited with several former members of SPBM.

Rommer predicted I would grow tried of the place and leave, on some levels he was right but the lack of water is the main reason for my leaving I could live with most other issues although I must say a few things really PISSED me off.

That pole in your slip is odd. It's not even attached to the dock. I'm surprised they didn't pull it. Might still be worth pursuing since it's so clearly an aberration. Did you get 50A service?

Any pole can be pulled - they just don't want to spend the money to do so.

Sounds like it's in a bad place for you, I'd demand a different slip or force them to remove the pole, before your boat gets damaged.

You sure that the piling doesn't keep the dock from moving to far east or west?

Haverstraw has a number of them that are not attached to the floating docks, but do keep them in line.

I think I'm pretty laid back but if the pole is in the way, I would switch slips, ask for a rebate or of course...have it removed.

Good luck with your new place.

Dave - your profile and signature are way out of date...please take care of that ASAP!

In 2005 I did a trip up the Hudson and stayed at Haverstraw, really liked the place.

Good luck

I suspect this may be the reason but I'm not real sure about this. I walked the docks and most slips have something in this area either a cross brace or a pole of some sort. It is right up against the finger but about a foot from the main. I think mooring balls may do the trick to let me slide right by it, if not I will just stick out real far and not be able to step on from the rear. It's not the end of the world if another slip opens up I'm already on the list to move.

As for power I will deal with this in the Spring.

Hank it looks like you will be lonely on D dock it's not too late to join me/us.
