I was worried that I parked my truck under a tree....wouldn't want to know how I would freak if the boat was in the water. We had gusts of 59mph in my town....boat on stands was fine. We did have a sailboat teetering back and forth but the owner came to snug it up.

BUT if in the water you most likely not have to worry about trees falling on it!!

Ive been keeping my boats in the water since 2004, and never had an issue. That being said you really have to have everything set up right and where can make a real difference as well

Andy,
What mechanic have you used on your diesel boats?

Walter
The short answer is after some years out of boating I don’t really have one.

My first diesel boat(2002) had Cummins 450C’s and SS3 had a company named something like Wesco do the head gaskets they were very good
One of their guys named Rob, opened his own shop in Port Washington, both Cummins & Yanmar. Had him do the block heaters and I did the Maintenance.
When I got my Cruisers with CAT’s he did the Survey & installed the Block heaters and I did all the maintenance. He seems to be out of Biz.
Was very good, not to dependable.

Sometimes id have the yard do the oil change’s if I was traveling a bunch.

My new to me boat has Volvo’s and I have yet to find someone. My yard, Stirling Harbor says they work on them all the time but have yet to check out their work. I'm sure ill have to sell some body parts to cover the costs

Ill try to do some of this years maintenance as fully retired I should have the time But im getting older and rounder so ill see how that works out.

So if you know of a good Volvo guy that will go out east let me know.

I feel your pain, literally. I can't climb down into the engine bay easily anymore and it's tight in there. That's why I have to pay someone to do the work I used to do without a second thought. I spent two hours on the boat yesterday, crawling through the shrinkwrap door, to do some minor work. It was actually about 60 degrees under the shrinkwrap while it was 32 outside!. White really absorbs the sun.

Well can meet half way, so 1.5 each.
Surprised its that far.
Oh well, hopefully I will have a bigger and faster boat here next year!

I usually cruise at 18 to 19kts (2200 rpms) depending on how much fuel is in the tanks. Most guys with the the 410da, cruise at 20 to 21 kts at 2350 rpms, but I am in no rush and the engines just sound like they could run forever at 2200. Maybe we can pick a good spot and meet in the middle.

Wait till I get a better boat, debating next boat move. The club boats are fine for now, its a floating couch and gets me out there but I want a different boat here. So step 1 is find a slip I like. My place I am on the waitlist so I am thinking about buying a condo that comes with a slip and rent out the condo and use the slip. Looking at a twin outboard dual console with hardtop for here.

The place we are renting in Delray, came with a slip big enough for a 60’ boat. My wife and daughter got a very nice 2 floor condo on the water, and I got a slip and a covered parking spot for my car. We are all happy and warm :)

More snow coming tonight to the tri-state area...hope you didn't take your shrink off yet!

WAVES AND WHEELS details her Monday... Splash in about a week : )

minor house keeping issues need to be done ..

Between the weather and my back I'm just not feeling motivated yet!
Maybe I will look at it next weekend.
