I never come out, no need to splash. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everybody.

Wish I had the intestinal fortitude to stay in over the winter. I’m really missing my “clubhouse”.

I haul the boat every couple of years depending on growth. I scuba dive, so I can change out the zincs and keep an eye on things in the water.

I live in Florida now. A splash date is when you jump off your boat.

Ditto.

But I promise to not become one of those southerners who rub it in. In fact yesterday it was friggin cold here.

How did the trip down with the boat go? How many days did you take to do it?

Hey, I just realized I never answered you. The trip took 3 weeks, because I had to stay at the Golden Nugget marina in AC, for 5 nights waiting for the weather to improve. Lost a couple other days due to weather. But all, in all, it was a great trip. Saw a ton a dolphin fron NC to Florida, a couple of manatees in Florida, experienced 6’+ seas in the Chesepeake, and a couple rough ocean days, but it was a great adventure. Aside from a dirty fuel filter from the rough ride in the Chesepeake, the boat handled everything like a champ.

Loving life down here. We were out on boat all day today, went swimming in ocean. The clear blue water still amazes me. We anchor in Boca Lake a lot, and on an incoming tide, it is a turquoise paradise. We are planning our first trip to the Bahmas - can’t wait!

Glad it all went well. You’re lucky to get out of here while the getting is good. We’re trapped until both kids get out of college and decide where they want to settle. Hopefully it’s someplace nice with lower taxes than here.
My friend ran his 480 south to the West Palm area a few weeks ago and had a good trip too. He’s keeping it at a friends house until he brings it back in April or May.
I’m hoping the dates work out so that I can make at least part of the trip back with him.

It really is a great trip. Do it!

A week before we moved off LI, my oldest daughter (26) transfered with her company to Raleigh, NC. She said they had her when she saw the beer bar in the office :). She really loves it there. She can actually afford to live in a nice area and plans to buy a townhouse or home soon. On LI, she would be struggling. I am heading there next week for a few days. I guess one way or another, our kids will find their way.

If you head this way, let me know. The boating here is really amazing. When the tide comes in and fills Lake Boca and the intracoastal with clean blue ocean water, it is really beautiful. I don’t think I will ever get tired of the color of the water down here. But, we do plan on heading north in the next couple years to once again enjoy LI boating with our friends.

Stay warm!

Jeff

I don't have my big boat here. I joined a club and I go out on pontoon boats.
Gets me out there, so no complaints.
Really don't want my big boat here.
I want to keep that in NY as a snowbird.
Down here I want a smaller boat but eventually maybe a big one.

Water by me in the lagoon is not clear, but I run to the inlets where it is.
We are far from the inlet, which has pluses when a hurricane comes but minuses for the water color in the lagoon.
But we still see plenty of dolphins and manatees.

We have a frequent manatee visitor on our canal. Unfortunately, no dolphins here. Probably all the NY, Long Islanders scared them away. But Biscaynne bay has tons of dolphins. I noticed a lot of boats where are live are day boats. But I like having my floating house with me when hanging out. Need my AC and nap on couch after a dive or long swim. Hoping to use this as my summer home up north or get a semi-displacment trawler, but we love this boat. And, It fits under all the bridges on the way to Boca Inlet.

Your pretty Regal would look very nice in the clear blue water down here and it’s perfect for a run to the Bahamas - just saying :)

My concern with the regal is I hear if you get to Bahamas and have issues, then its hard to get parts and people who can work on things.
I have IPS and the last thing I would want to do is have to fly a mechanic in from Florida.

Its a great boat but not for Florida. I am looking at these new outboard, small cabin, bowriders. They are day boats, weekend boats, and bahama run boats all in one. Just pricey but I am in no rush. I have my pontoon now and happy with that.

Yes, it is my understanding you are on Bahama time when there. Don’t expect to get a mechanic on boat in a day or two. Gotta relax and wait, no other choice. I agree with your IPS concerns. Glad you are enjoying the pontoon boat. See quite a few down here. One has a water slide.

They are floating couches. But it gets you on water and you can float in about a foot of water!
So for now it checks the box.
But I eventually want a better boat.

How far are you from Port St. Lucie by water? I can take a boat out from there with the club but not never did it.
Can raft up. LOL

St Lucie Inlet is more than 50nm from me. So a 3 hour trip each way.

Well can meet half way, so 1.5 each.
Surprised its that far.
Oh well, hopefully I will have a bigger and faster boat here next year!

I envy guys who do that. Crawling in and out of the shrinkwrap with the boat blocked up in the winter $ucks.
Wish I could muster up the courage to at least stay in the water and plugged in for the winter. This would have been the one to do it.

I don't know staying in up north is worth it....Sunday night the wind was HOWLING. I was worried that I parked my truck under a tree....wouldn't want to know how I would freak if the boat was in the water. We had gusts of 59mph in my town....boat on stands was fine. We did have a sailboat teetering back and forth but the owner came to snug it up.
