For those interested in following along...

I will begin a sailing sabbatical (for lack of better terminology) tomorrow with my first mate and best buddy, Chris. Our plan, or more to the point, our hope is to begin a southward sail from the Keys through as much of the western Caribbean as the forces of nature & the universe will make possible (ie Turks & Caicos, Cuba, Mexico, Belize, Caymans, Jamaica, etc.)

My website: http://www.sailbluerunner.com will not only chronicle our travels but offer a proposed route should anyone be interested in a tropical get-away. We always welcome an extra hand or two. In addition, this as well as my personal email will serve as our point of contact for whenever we find access to the web.

In this last summer of pirates I'll leave you with this trite yet apropos movie quote:

"Wherever we want to go, we go. That's what a ship is, you know. It's not just a keel and a hull and sails; that's what a ship needs. Not what a ship is. What "Blue Runner" really is, is freedom."

Buon Vento!

Anne, fair winds and following seas on your journey. Keep in touch with all your friends around here. Make sure you post lots of good pictures along the way!

I for one am GREEN with envy on this post. Best of luck to you Anne - post pictures of the far away places we all wish we could see ourselves and be safe out there - take no chances with the weather etc.

Hopefully we can live vicariously through you.

Safe Travels!

O

Anne, Keep the pix of the great scenery coming, especially the Bikini shots.(As I get older, I find myself more interested in ART)

Capt.a1anne, please keep posting ....
Ya'll take care now and be careful, but have a wonderful great time!

Have a good trip. Don't forget a DVD of "Captain Ron", in case you get weathered in and need a humor break.

Wow...what a summer you're about to have! Fair winds and calm seas....look forward to seeing the updates!

Captian Ron is a must! It's just wrong that I can't be with you! What a trip. Wish you well Have the time of your lives!Pray to Posidon and all will be well!...Jerry

At five a.m. I am showering and getting ready to go to work. I'm thinking to myself, "How big of a boat would I need to just sail on over to Bermuda? Maybe I should start researching now so I'll know what I want when I retire." And my fantasies went on from there.

Now, I read your plans and wish that now was my time also. How great that you are doing this in your youth. God speed and keep us here at BoaterEd "in the loop."
