This is a new strand from the Glasply posting. The boat I'm looking at apparently has balsa stringers in the front and foam stringers in the aft. The broker said Glasply was one of the first manufacturers to use foam. The boat is a 1983. At first I was thrilled with the prospect of foam instead of wood because of the stories we've all heard about rotting wood stringers. But then I read about problems with foam as well. Lack of strength being one problem. So here's the question; what's better wood or foam?
