I've only owned the boat for 3 months. In Feb i had all my zincs changed by the company that cleans the hull. I purchased the zincs and was actually there the day the diver changed them, so, i know it happened.
Since then i have swiched to a new hull cleaner since they are $20 a month cheaper and recommended by the broker.
yesterday i got a bill from the "new" cleaning company for cleaning and replacing zincs 2 small rudder ($21 each) and 2 shaft ($25 each)
they did not call me first to tell me they were going to do it, they just charged me. We never discusesed "automatically" changing zincs. They did not leave the old zincs on the swim step.
I sent an email asking them why they changed them and they replied.
1. They were not changed in Feb. or 2. There is
some stray current getting into your bonding system. This is usually caused by a fault somewhere in the shore power circuitry.
How do i check for stray current? How long do zincs last if the bonding system is working correctly?
