Went out this afternoon and due to the wind fished off of Georges Island. In a half hour I got a 17" striper and one 19". Also got a catfish and an eel later. It was the second best day this year. The wind drove me in around 3:00. Did anyone else get lucky? Fishing, that is.
 
I was with you right up to the fishing part. Glad to hear you had a good day. You looked happy as you returned. I just figured it was a nice boating day but I guess for those of you that fish catching is what it's all about. The only catching I do is the sun. Makes to much of a mess for me.

I took up fishing to have a reason to go out when it's too cold for swimming, in the spring or the fall. Now I'm hooked. We don't eat these fish but we do in Florida. Fresh grouper or yellowtail snapper is very good.
 
I wouldn't be eating the fish from the Hudson either. I happen to like fishing just not on my boat and not in the Hudson, All I catch are Eels and they are just disgusting.
 
The big stripers don't live in the river, only come up to spawn. The schoolies live for a few years in the river and then take off to the ocean. No problem eating big stripers from the river.

Had some great striper sashimi tonight, is was delicious.

You have to come down south for some big fish, incredible day Saturday, 16 in the boat, up to 39" smallest was 31".

What's your limit in Jersey? How many can you keep down there?
 
I concur - There are no fish in the river.

We went up to Newburg and got ziltch. We should have went were Jonathan was but the peeps thought it was too far to go for an afternoon trip..
 
I heard there was a whopper caught under the TZ Bridge. A friend who owned the title of the second largest Hudson Stripped Bass (largest in lower Hudson area) was bummed. I want to say 52lber, is that right, did anyone hear?

How are the reports this week? Still good fishing down there? We are thinking of a possible trip on Sunday.
