I bought the boat that way. I really don't know if it's a factory thing or not, I suspect not. And I don't think the previous owner installed them either. There was a longer term, original owner in Michigan, who might've done them. I noticed and liked the extra rails when we were shopping various Montegos...it was the only one that had them, they're on both sides, and are well done. I've come to appreciate them being there, and the Admiral, and other guests really like them too. They give an extra measure of security when moving around, for sure.

I did have to resecure the stanchion plates at the beginning of last season, they were a little loose when we got the boat the year before. But they held up just fine. They are the first thing people reach for when climbing aboard, or going out front.

BTW, our best improvement, to-date, has been enlarging the original swim platform. Huge increase in enjoyment from that! More info on that, if you wish...
 
Those stanchions are definitely aftermarket. I'm betting crates did it since it looks like they do quite a bit of customization on the Carvers they sell. Also, that forward port hole above thewrung rail is definitely aftermarket too!

I'm sure that platform has made a world of difference in usability, my uncles 32 was hard to have 2 people standing on the back, any more and they were swimming!
 
Very nice...really like the upgrades. I'd like that railing, too. Swinging my large, midle-aged frame around the side of the boat to go forward has caused more than skip in heart beats. The "you should do it because you're thin" line didn't work on my wife in getting a dock-line retrieved from forward. I bought more dock lines this winter so I wouldn't have to make that climb and high-wire act as often!

No, it wasn't Crates, I put the portholes in above the rubrail myself. ) I would have liked them below the rubrail, looks-wise, from the outside, but they would've ended-up too low, and inside the storage cubby holes on the interior, and not as effective. Actually, I forgot that I did that! Lol.
Man, it made a world of difference to the air flowing thru the front berth, it's really nice when sleeping!

Yes, the swim platform is great! We can easily put two recliners out there! It was a really easy upgrade actually, and the fiberglass guy did a great job.
 
Side note regarding the trailer and boat position. Looks correct to me. Keep in mind when in a hoist it is hung by two sling points. Thos works the same as the trailer for yard transport. Now if you were heading down the higjway at 70 mph ....I would opt for more support! Lol

I removed it, and took it in to a fabricator to be recored. Once in his shop, he said he could enlarge it, after originally saying he couldn't, without making a new mould. But he managed to cut it in half and extend it 12" Really happy with the result. I also eliminated the original, in-water, lower half of the factory ladder, and mounted an undermount 4 step ladder, and that worked great!

? Uh...see the above post.
I didn't order it, per se, but took it in to a local fiberglass shop, and had the existing one reworked. I did not perform the recoring and fiberglassing myself.
 
The swim platform looks great...that 12" made a big difference and I like the look of removing the center "over the side" ladder. Now you've given me something else to add to my list!

Honestly...I cringed, and bit my lip, as it came out of the water like that, but there is nothing else holding it there. The haulout crew were completely comfortable, but I almost had to walk away...and they used no straps to further secure it.
What's even more ridiculous, is that I climbed aboard, once it was in the shop, via the swim platform and ladder, to pull the Genny out (for service). I thought for sure it would teeter/totter on the trailer with me on it (I'm 265lbs), but it didn't budge. The main reason for all this is that our water level is/was quite low at the end of the season, affecting the ramp.

I would have walked away too. The distance from the mid ship back with no support under there, would have freaked me out. Are the engines mid ship or aft?

Engines are aft. V drives. 2 x 454's
