Stupid Decision at AYC

So I get a call that I can't launch Saturday as planned becuase they paved the road and you can't drive heavy boats over it!

WTF!

Can you of planned that any worse?

Now I have to wait another week!

Stupid decision!
 
Makes u feel any better its supposed to rain late saturday til wed ...

Same here Dave, I was supposed to go in tomorrow... Have to reschedule for next week.
 
You think that the least they could have done is to give ample notice to the boat owners that were affected by this. What if you took a day off of work to launch your boat??? Someone was clearly not thinking here.
 
It's about as dumb as paving a road during rush hour.

I don't understand becuase the road splits where they paved, so they could of just paved that section and left a path open.

I also question why do it now since the machine will drive over it with about 200 boats over the next few weeks. Wait, then do it. What is the rush? To satisfy H dock where they re-did the bulkhead? Just a stupid stupid decison.

Oh, and rain doesn't bother me, I am just looking to sit on my boat in the water!
 
you guys arent alone. i belong to a club that had the ramp wiped out in irene. Essentially no decisions were made or bids taken until recently. long story short the ramp will not be ready for opening day.
 
Yep, I took the day off tomorrow to get the boat launched, plus was at the boat till after 10pm Sunday night and Monday rushing to get things done and planned to do a lot of cleaning and prep with the boat back at the house this weekend. I definitely would have preferred some notice.

On the bright side now I get to go on Walter's boat tomorrow :)
 
I think NYS has that law, that if you sit home for a vendor and they don't show you can get re-imbursed for your day of work!
Maybe that applies!
 
I'll be on my boat, enjoying being on the water!
