On Saturday morning my wife and I headed out from Martinez at 1030am, through the Carquinez Strait, through San Pablo Bay and arrived at Ayala Cove, Angel Island at 1130am. The weather couldnt have been better. It was clear with a blue sky and a few clouds. The water for the most part was quite smooth. It was a very nice trip. We took a short walk on the beach, went to the visitors center, spoke with the park ranger and then I started lunch.

My generator started to cut out on me so I had to use the alcohol /gas stove to cook the Lobster Tails. It took about 30 minutes but we ate lobster, mashed potatos and asparagus on the boat and opened a bottle of wine. Once we had our fill we took one more walk and headed out to Sausalito which was just 2.6 miles away. Quite a few boats were anchored out in Richardson Bay. We docked at Sausalito Yacht Harbor, grabbed our luggage and checked in at the Inn Above Tide which is a great bed and breakfast that is positioned right on the shoreline. It has great views of the bay, alcatraz, SF and the service was great.

I checked the weather at night and knew that winds and rain would descend upon us by noon. Rather than wait for that we got up early and headed out at about 830am. Here are a few pics and a link to a video below.

Nice pics. Weather was beautiful on Saturday and good call on leaving early. When the wind started picking up mid-morning on Sunday, I was wondering if you were going to get caught out there. Because even in Discovery Bay the winds were blowing very strong in advance of the rain.

Thanks UpperDecker,

Yes, when we pulled out Sunday morning the clouds were hanging low and you can tell the wind was ramping up. We made it back to our homeport in an hour and 10 minutes. Cruising at 3600 rpms, 29 miles power hour. We were going with the current as the tide was rising which means the current is generally flowing inland from the Golden Gate.

Thanks for the report and taking us along! The Admiral looks like she really appreciated your efforts. Good job, Cap'n!!!!

You also said you had problems with the generator. Did you buy a portable gen set and mount it on the transom? I remember a discussion about your power options.

In order of my preferences on your video, I must say you have a beautiful first mate, a gorgeous boat, tremendous scenery so I guess you come in fourth in this video. Nice job all the way around.....enjoyed your post a bunch. DBH

Glad you had a good time in the Bay and thanks for the pictures
I did not know that The Sausalito Yacht Harbor as guest docks. Where did you dock in the harbor?

We love boating pictures, especially when the sun is shining.

Thanks for all the responses. Yes, "the admiral" enjoyed the weekend. She had no idea where we were going or how we would get there. I agree, I come in a respectable yet distant 4th when compared to the admiral, the boat and the gorgeous day we had on Saturday. Such a great trip I look forward to making it back to Angel Island sometime soon.

Nice job, Skipper! Sounds like a perfect overnight trip. You must have scored some extra points for that weekend. Thanks for the great photos and video.

Nice job skipper is right! That's no easy trip! It looks like you guys had a great time! The pictures and video were great.

Rick

Thanks for sharing the weekend with us - always nice to see new areas.
Cheers -

Hey Phil! Nice to hear from you. Thanks again for that tow way back when. Since then I've had no problems with the boat. Nothing but fun. This so far has been our longest trip. 25 miles each way. I'm definitely going to spend more time on the Bay. Tiburon next and then I've heard good things about Petaluma.

I was out paddling my kayak Saturday at that time, went into Ayala Cove to look at the mooring options. We paddled in about an hour after you arrived. beautful day it was. Glad you had a great trip
