Did anyone else go to the festival this weekend? We went to the "Summer Festival" Saturday down at the Haverstraw Ferry Landing. It was far from a festival. If you look at the link below, it shows clowns, and some carnival type atmosphere. A tad misleading I would say. We took my kids down there and were pretty dissapointed. They had some nice boats and a few vendors but it was not what we expected. The poker run came in a little late and I only saw about 1/2 dozen boats come in for a card before we left at 2.

From what I heard form some folks watching the poker run on the water. Allot of the boats did not have a clue on where to get the card. Since the card pickup used to be in Haverstraw Marina allot of boats went there, some went past Haverstraw marina as well. I was at the Haverstraw fair at Bowline and that was so so as well. Trying to find things to do not include boating since that is about over.

For a 1st year they did not do bad. Looking at the ad I can see how it could mislead someone but they had no previous pictures so I guess they took what was available. I did hear most of the poker run boats missed the stop. Seems the fireboat was committed to mark the area for them and at last minute backed out due to another commitment. Hopefully they learned from this one and next years will be one we will all brag about.

Yea the poker run looked small compared to the last one i saw a few years back , plus the gas prices aren't helping any...

Boat shows ain't what they used to be these days - I can attest to that. Even summer ones dressed up as festivals. I wasn't at this one, but like Butch I hope they can build on this event to make more exciting ones in the future...

We're actually retooling our Metro Boat Show in February to become a boating/leisure show. That way, we can include other types of recreational vehicles, but also (my pet project!) to get venues from locales such as Hunter Mountain, or Emerson Spa, or the Sagamore or Chelsea Piers or places like that to send representatives and speak to people from our area about spending their tourism dollars at these nearby venues. I'm going to have to post a thread on here to solicit ideas from you guys...

The times they are a-changin' for everybody!!!

We cruised by on Sunday but it didn't look like much was going on. Were there any interesting boats there?

I guess they had about 30 boats. Had an assortment of styles so a new boater would have an idea of what they could get. Aft cabins, cruisers, bow riders, pilot house, pantoon and speed boats. Its a small area but I think they did well with what they had. They did have several vendor tents set up as well. Hopefully they can make it a yearly event and get more interest into it...

Butch, I believe I saw some of them boats with the stick in the middle that you hang cloth off of to make you move.

oh, were they boats? I thought they were floating flag poles. They sure had alot of flags on them...

No, they are laundry machines. That's how they dry their rags.

Hey, at the rate gas prices are rising you might need some of those "rags" for propulsion one of these days, too!!!

No, at that point I'll have to get out. They don't make saleboats with enough headroom...

Hate to admit it but , I like sailboats been on quite a few over the years and thik it's kinda fun if you got the time.
All right you can let me have it now, don't worry I can take.
