ah - that issue, yes it's crazy. Not only does include bilge and gray water, "deck runoff" is also mentioned!
re: the sump, the box DOES fill, but it's backfilling from the hose instead of filling from the condensate pan. It's pumping water out of the box, uphill into the hose where a little might escape through the through-hull, but then it seeps past the check valve and refills the box.
Unless it's been changed out, your current boat has an Attwood sump, located in the hold more-or-less even with the head door. It has that notoriously fragile check valve flap. The good news is that if you ask nicely, Attwood customer service will send you a new one F.O.C. (just don't ask for more than 2 - they'll want to charge)
If the check valve is working properly, an A/C unit running at full blast on a humid day will still won't produce enough condensate to fill the sump in 10 minutes.
