I think I can squeeze one more Sunday in with beautiful weather. Gosh the anticipation is killing me.

Anyone familiar with the "cove" near wantagh park. Never been there but everyone says.. go towards the park but bear left and the canal narrows then opens up into this huge anchorage that is a suppose to be best kept secret. (not anymore)

It's ok. I would not plan a day around it.It is not like going to Hemlock Cove or anything like that. It is private property on all sides and the only thing you can do is anchor up in the middle of the wide portion of the canal (cove). It is a nice spot if you live in the area and have to go up or down the canal and you just want to hang out for a while. Other than that it is nothing special.

Katie, we've been there on several occasions. Like Seatracks said, it's really a canal that widens a lot in one area and some boats do anchor and hang out. It's the Mandalay area. I've gone there to sit and snapper fish many times. Let us know if you go...........maybe I'll take a run over in the ugly boat (that one is still in the water).

Heading to watch hill this weekend .. taking off monday to enjoy the 80's there calling for ....

Got an entire month left to boat... November 15th is a long way off...

Is Watch Hill still open? Isn't the 15th usually closing time?

Yep, I have another month to go also, getting hauled Nov 16th.

I'm sure the weekend and all of next week will be beautiful - my boat came out Thursday. You'll probably see 70's or 80's until at least mid-November. If I were still in, the forecast would be for snow.

Ed, I can relate to that..........usually happens to me every year too! Then as soon as I go back in the spring, it's miserable outside.

That area is in Bellemore creek. It's the first canal west of Wantagh Park. Years ago I kept my old Boat up that canal. It's really just a wide spot in the canal. All you'll see are backyards. I think there are better places to hang out.
I may try to get over to Tobay either later today or tomorrow.

Was out on the water today and it was spectacular. A little more windy than I expected, but beautiful. Went to Freeport for lunch and the town was empty. Not many boats out on the water, except for fisherman who get really bold and obnoxious this time of year. They anchor right in the middle of channels or all around the bridge entrances. Even tie up to the pillars all day.

Guess it's their right this time of year, but don't be screaming at me when I come running through the channel to stay on plane in deep water and you're expecting me to slow way down. Move your boat or ride it out!!! There... I feel better. Did I mention I had a relaxing lunch with the family in Freeport??!! Can't wait for tomorrow and the rest of this week!

John,
Watchill had electric and they were collecting money. They said it will be off tomorrow (monday ) Yes its a constant battle with the fish a-holes... never ending.... We had say alot boats out today ( sunday )

Zachs was especially zoo like ID love ot see where all the bayconstables are this time of year... ITs a joke...

Rob.......did you pass by Cedar Beach today....around 2 or 3ish ???

We took the bowrider out today, went down to Point Lookout and Island Park to visit friends. Was spectacular out there for this time of year and we enjoyed every minute of it. Saw more boats out today than some days in July!!! Can't say I'm looking forward to winter :(

Ran over to Tobay yesterday and spent the night and all day today there. The ride over was a little rough, but the weather was great last night and beautiful today and this evening. The forecast still looks good, so I'm leaving the boat there for another day or two.

Yes, the water and electric are on until 10/31. Fees are being collected on the weekends only. When I left my boat there last night I pretty much had the whole place to myself. There were a fair amount of boats there Saturday and Sunday, but not crowded at all. It was an incredible late October weekend. I'd have slept over last night too if I didn't have other things going on this morning.
I'm waiting to see the weekend forecast to decide if I'm going to bring my boat back to Lindenhurst or hold out for another weekend.

JVM... I was in tobay today. Water and electric was on . I saw a single boat with a blue canvas on the first set of docks as u would enter the marina. I guss that was ur boat ?

Rob

Any place left local that will have electric on for a few more weeks ???

Don, Tobay was still on but i dont know for how long.

If u call they will say there closed!

Rob

went to Gilgo on Sunday. Just spectacular! It's free this time of year. Never any electric. It's like Cedar without electric. Great day. Just great.
