Well it seems like the last of Hurican Ike even left it's mark in Ontario
We got a call from the marina our ropes broke and the swim platform hit the dock
a far bit of damage to the platform Now I am wondering if I should repair or replace it
Any used platforms any body know of or any suggestions appreciated
Carver 1987 Santego 2767 10 ft beam standard size platform I guess
Insurance is last resort for a new one but hoping to avoid another claim

Watch your insurance claims...Laws in Ontario give the insurance companys the right to cancel your policy if you have 2 claims in 5 years...Also they may look at the year of the boat and depreciate the amount they pay...Even if you ask your insurance company about it, it is registered as a claim with some companies...This can be verified with the insurance beaurea of Canada...

That is also my question about a used one no claim if possible
hope to find somthing in Ontario;or close;a boat salvage yard or somthing

AH...your in Fenlon Falls...Close to the home town of Buckhorn...Check with John at Buckhorn Yacht Harbour...He might be able to help you...
If not try Steve at Aylings Boat Yard in Merrickville Ontario...It's just outside of Ottawa on the Rideau...Steve would be the first one I would try...

Thanks 2557 Yes we get a lot of rough water in the marina when the wind hits it is terrible but that is what happens once in a while maybe had the rope to tight and snap..... when we left I was not even aware bad weather comming or I might have done a double line or what ever to save this from happing 4 boats got damage from the storm yet it did not seem to bad here in Newmarket I will check the leads you suggest and hope.I am not looking forward to another insurance claim for the sake of the platform I might go ahead and re do the corners and 3 bolt hole that are in bad shape now with fiberglass guy in fenelon might get luckey and save some $$$$ but somtimes that is not the way to go either

Well I guess I got luckey I managed to secure a used swim platform from a Montego whitch had a fire. The boat was only at next Marina up from where I live and could not have been in a better place when you need somthing close
Perfect mach up bolt holes and all same design and dimentions Paid a little more for a used paltform than I thought it should be worth but it sure saves a lot of agrivatioin and wait time no cutting or fitting or screwing around trying to make somthing fit
So I am gratful gratful

Hey Sandydog, I'm in the Newmarket area as well. Do you mind if I ask what marina you found that has salvaged parts?
Thanks.

This is actualy a good thread...So many times someone will post a question and you never hear back from them...Thanks for letting us know how you made out sandydog...

what a great outcome. you have a good alibi for the burnt boat in the next marina, right? :-)

Glad that everything worked out okay!!!

BTW, destroyed boats can be a great source of parts. A friend got a nice teak platform for his Silverton off an old Carver 28 that had a big hole in the bottom. Before it was towed away, he was able to take the platform...

The Marina was Alberts Marina just north of Newmarket actually Bathurst St North for some reason they have a lot of boats that were held over the years for storage or other major problems and now they are selling off parts and pieces
I was just out driving on day and checked this marina out and seen all the boats on the blocks and got curious
Not much left on the Carver but man it was really luckey for me They have some other really goood pieces in there as well
