I really hate what I am hearing about the fire. It looked like they were making progress until it jumped the fire line yesterday.

It is a sad day.

Yes it is. But it is one that was way overdue! For 20 yrs that area has needed to be thinned out and cleared-----not the same as "clear-cut"! But liberal environmentalists have prevented the forest service from being allowed to do that. They even prevented going in to removed dead trees caused by a beetle infestation!

Under these circumstances, the firemen have done a fantastic job against terrible odds. It is amazing to me that many more homes have not been lost so far.
 
Flutterby has it right here--and I don't doubt for a minute that some of those "environmentalists" are secretly jumping for joy that homes are burning. For the "no growth, no nothing" folks, fires like this are celebratory events.
