Today we took the day off and went about this business of getting Freedom ready for a short and warm winter right Mike?
You're going to take care of us all like you did this summer right?

Anyway we haul tomorrow. Enjoy what's left of the season!

We were going to cruise her up for her rest this weekend, but apparently the weather has other ideas.

Yes. Thats when we head to Kingston for their 4th of July weekend and stay at Rondout next to Dan.

I plan to have the boat in the water around April 1st for striper fishing.

And now the deed is done. She's up out of the water on the hard with all of the preservatives in her veins. Kudos to the gang here at RYB for a smooth lift and transport to her spot. Even if it is dry. The amount of boats coming out has taken a sharp up tick. They must have hauled, pressure washed and blocked 8 boats today. Even though it was cold I know the crew was warm.

Stripper fishing sounds like my kinda fishing, sweet... :)

Sorry Rob, I misunderstood your post.

Glad to hear your haul was uneventful Dan. What is the countdown to launch? ;)

Good question John, it depends how many they stack in front of us. We are in a good spot so some time in April is not out of the question. But I may want to delay it a bit so I can work in warmer weather. After all when it goes in this time it stays in for a couple of years (hopefully)!
And July 4th begins the serious count down!

I would say 149 and counting, but Im still in the water so I cant say it....

A beautiful day on the water. Nice trip up to Torches for an early Sunday dinner with the Stony Point crew and some family. The water was glass!

Even solved the case of the missing matchbox cars!

Winterized Giggity, removed all the food & booze from Hogan, cleaned her up a bit. Enjoyed the sun yesterday, but the countdown to April has begun.

Depression sets in!

We pulled her yesterday. I looked at the calendar and realized my wife is busy the next 2 weekends so I have the kids, then Turkey day, and before you know it snow. The good part is the bottom and drive came out needing just a good wash. The trim tabs and transducer, well that's another story.

When we unloaded Freedom it was in the water and the bow came up about 2 inches. I think we went through about 30 gallons of AF between the engines, generator, heads, sinks and drains. Potable water lines get compressed air. All in all, only 3.5 days to winterize her.

.....and if "the deed" is not done as the weather turns cold, who is responsible for damage if/when temps dip below 32*? Can't believe I am still in the water, except there are half a dozen others in the same "boat" as me! Since my insurance policy states a layup from Nov 1 to April 1, is the marina now responsible if damage happens to the boat in the water? I can only imagine when I will get shrink wrapped - Thanksgiving is just 2 weeks away....who stole the pleasure from boating?

Geo I think that we are ultimately responsible unless we have a contract with a haul date. By the way I think the weather is what puts the "bop in the bopshu-bop-shubop".

George, it takes a lot longer to freeze when it's in the water than when it's on land. No need to worry, yet...

George, if I were you, I'd call the insurance company and discuss an in the water rider for the month of November. G-d forbid something goes wrong and your policy says you're supposed to be on land.
