I watched an infomercial this morning for this folding fishing rod. I was going to get one but reality set in that it is most likely a POS. Anyone using it? or have seen them that can provide comment.

thanks

That thing is still around??? Always wondered how good they were and I've seen similar ones in stores but never bought one.

I think I've seen it stores.......maybe Sports Authority or Walmart??

Looks like a gadget to me; but it might actually work if you don't have space for the real thing.

There are a number of decent pack rods and reels that would serve much better. These pack systems are REAL fishing tackle and not a toy gadget.

Daiwa makes a ultra-light spinning system (either open or close faced spin reel and fly reel). I have not looked at them in a long time, but I have a old one I carry back=packing and on my 4-wheeler. I've used it for trout and in farm ponds for bass and bream. It's works for those time when I really didn't plan to fish, not great but serves its limited role. I'm sure orthers make similar systems. Check places like Cabelas, Bass Pro, and any other tackle outlets. Heck, even Wally-world probably has them.

Hey, I still use my REALLY old Ronco Pocket Fisherman from time to time on the kayak. All I can say is....It's not broken and I can still catch fish with it!

Thank you all for the feedback.

Rob is pocket fisheramn the one that folds up like a pen?

My son has a telescoping rod that he's used for years - don't know if it's the same one as you saw advertised.

I've brought in a few fish on it over the years. It doesn't have the touch of a high quality rod, but it gets the job done, and he can keep it in his glove compartment so he is always ready to go fishing at a moment's notice.
