The Peripheral Canal is BAAAAACK!!!!!

Yeah, It's going to be fun. Seems the current stage is preliminaries for planning an EIR, which will take a lot of lying if they are going to push it through. I don't underestimate their motivation, though.

Hey everyone - this is really happening. There was a meeting in Sacto today, I think, and they are looking to put a $4B bond on the Nov ballot to fund this thing!

I am just starting to try to understand it, and I actually read the initative today. Long and confusing, and although it sounds like they are doing a lot for the Delta, I think the real motivation is getting the water to SoCal. If they really wanted to truly help the delta - do it - please do it - but they certainly don't need a canal to do it! My opinion only.

Please everyone, read about it and get involved. Remember the mighty Colorado river? With all the good wanter managment it received, It doesn't even make it to Mexico anymore - all the water is being sucked up now. I live by Tahoe, and this sounds like a new TRPA - and I can promise you, you do not want an all-powerfull TRPA managing your delta. If you can, read the proposal, and you will see that the current Delta Convcervency groups will be shut down, and replaced by Schwartznager appointed members. Again, this is my read - but it scared me pretty bad. Please show me I'm wrong, and this is a good thing.

I Love the Delta! I have been a boater for over 40 years, and it is without a doubt, a rare and wonderfull place in this crazy and hectic world. I live 20 minutes from Tahoe, but boat on the Delta!

Check it out, be informed. Thanks, and have a great day!
Jim
