I think I read here awhile back that the Point in Rio Vista had been sold and was re-opening......any news

They are doing a lot of work on it. Supposed to reopen sometime this month.

So that's the reason for the paint job. I have my boat at the marina for a couple of months for the fishing and I told someone it looked like something from Mexico. By the way anyone else out catching Salmon lately? I've been doing pretty good and I am in the bay now for a week and can't wait to get back for more fishing.

It is going to "Memos at The Point. Memos is a high end Mexican restaurant in Concord now. Very good!!!! It ain't no Chevys, that's for sure. If this goes well, should be a great place. Looking forward to it. Below is a link to the website.

Just found this on the online version of Bay & Delta Yachtsman.

"When Jim and Vickie Baumann closed their fabulous The Point Waterfront Restaurant last December, it certainly left a culinary vacuum in the Rio Vista area. We are pleased to report that the restaurant will reopen in early October under the new ownership of Adelio and Ivalina Touri, a father/daughter team with plenty of restaurant experience.

They currently have a very popular restaurant in Concord called Memos and are looking to move to the Delta. They specialize in food from Northern Mexico with a slight Italian flair. The menu will include vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free meals if requested. They say they will offer the ultimate Delta dining experience.

Galen Kusic, an editor of the Rio Vista News Herald, was there with me and we both left with our mouths watering in anticipation of the restaurant opening after talking to Ivalina and Adelio. I can hardly wait for their grand opening."

I hope they continue the old tradition of ringing the bell in the bar every time a boat enters the marina......it was always a nice touch

Great news. RV needs that place.

Dennis, I landed one near Sacramento, but haven't been fishing those RV waters for over a year. My friends have been having good luck north of Vierra's to near Walnut Grove. Spinners primarily, but some on Kwikfish.

Good to hear you and Mary are having fun in that boat!!

Al, heading to the boat this morning for a few days fishing. I've been having good luck fishing between were the Sacramento river turns to Vierra's to the ferry and have caught a few by Vierra's.
We spent 10 days on the bay and couldn't ask for better weather, it was a lot of fun. Stayed 4 days at Clipper Harbor Marina in Sausalito and walked over to see the Bay Model and guess what, it was closed. Its ran by the Corp of Engineers (Damn Government)

I emailed the new owners. I was told there will be an article in the Rio Vista Beacon, this week, announcing the official opening date. I also asked them to continue the tradition of ringing the bell at the bar.

I don't get the Beacon but tried the website. It is down now. If someone gets the date off the hard copy, please post it.

I was talking to a lady from the Delta Marina this morning as we were watching a crane set the new ramps going down to the dock at the Point restaurant. It sounds like they are the ones that are having all the remodeling done to the restaurant. She says that they are hoping to have it ready to open sometime in November. She says they are finding more things to repair as they go along. She didn't sound to optimistic when I asked her if she thought they wound open by mid November, so we will see.

Got another email from one of the owners - perhaps the gal you ran into, dvan. She said they will continue the tradition and history of The Point.

Just received a posting on Facebook re Memo's at The Point. Due to many construction issues, they won't be opening until early 2014. They were hoping to open by the holidays but guess too many problems.

They are probably being harassed by County regs. They hate to see a new business get off the ground!!! IMO

The problems were all with the building itself. Terrible shape, apparently. Just got another Facebook posting with pics. They built a real nice outside dining area deck facing the river.

Looks like The Point will reopen for New Years Eve. Just got this on their Facebook page:

It's official, Memo's at The Point will be serving a BUFFET dinner and cocktails on New Year's Eve. Dinner will be served beginning at 5PM until 9PM. $25/person + tax. Cocktails will be available from 5PM until 1AM. No reservations... first come, first served.

Come share our Grand Opening with us and get started in 2014 with great food, laughter, beverages and fun!

If they have TVs with the 49er game on in the bar area today, I may be going up.
