Now that my boat is on the hard I broke out the ruler and measured my draft. I started at the very bottom of the water line and measured to the ground then deducted 2" for the distance of the prop to the ground and it is between 52" and 53" which is exactly what I was told when I bought the boat. The waterline goes up another 4-6 inches from there.
It looks like the bottom paint didn't hold up as well as I had hoped and I need to send my props out due to an intimate encounter with the bottom at Bowline.
Someone needs to post a count down until Spring.

Dave, most of us are still in the water, no need to start a count down until a couple more weeks.

Can't wait to measure my draft. Where is your water line? Mine is just at the very bottom of the exhausts.

You guys should really move to a marina with water, put the tide charts and rulers away and not worry about hitting the bottom all the time.

Your boats are too big for skinny water marinas.

When I had a 25' speedboat I had to worry about tide in that bay, your boats are too big for 3'
of water IMHO.

The only marinas with water are Haverstraw and Minesceongo. I'm not going to either one. I'm perfectly happy where I am, we have fantastic dock mates - it's like a family where we are. If the downside is that I have to watch the tides, so be it. It's a small price to pay for a summer with great friends at a wonderful marina.

I'll second that.
Hogan My water lime is also just bellow my exhaust
however I measured from the stern due to the tilt of the boat I wanted to get the most accurate measurement that I could. I tried to measure as close to the props as I could. I'm sure yours will be about the same. kept in mind this would be a floating measurement even at idle the boat would sit deeper.

I'll check it in a couple of weeks when I haul out.

OK, I broke out the tape measure today and the results are in>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

53" draft!

As I expected we are all over the 48" estimate and all within an inch of each other.
They are deep hulls but the sure do ride nice.

I have to wonder where they got the 48" number from? It is what it is, I just need 8" more water than I thought I did!

Anyway, winterized the engines and genny today, as well as the AC system and water system.

Today was my first look at her bottom, it looks great, just gotta scrape some barnicles off and polish the running gear.

Bill, the outside 1" of each of my props are polished and shined - must be that good NJ mud that cleaned them off! No dings or bends, so I'm good to go!

Thanks for clearing this up guys. We can all sleep at night now!

BTW it was another awesome day today. Maybe anotehr week or 2 before she comes out.

Spent a few hours over at Croton, took a ride to West Point and had a really nice relaxing day out on the river. What a bonus day!

Keep it down or the state will send you a bill for the prop polish....we're about to declare a financial emergency and every bit helps....

Rommer have you winterize any systems yet? Such as water or waste. If so I hope you didn't have too much to drink on board. It must have been a great day on the water. It was nicer out today then my Columbus weekend cruise.

I am glad all worked out Mike I told you my wife was really upset with me. I told you and others there was no way that boat drew only 4 feet. Still I shouldn't have taken you as early as we left and under the weather conditions. But I knew you needed to get the boat home. We both made the call. I made it but I knew when my boat tapped bottom you would be in trouble. I am really glad I did not cause your boat damage. Too bad I couldn't have taken you out my favorite way out the inlet using the south cut. There you would have been scratching your head saying I know this guy is going to ground me. If we could have gone outside (not an option) you would have never seen water less than 5.5 feet. It also fun cruising 30 feet off the marsh knowing you will be fine. It just wasn't in the cards. I'm looking forward to my trip South next year I may follow Pascal! Except I really want to take the Dismal Swamp Canal to Elizabeth City N.C. It is one of those rare treats to navigate a small tree lined ditch dug and constructed by George Washington and I'm sure slaves. We draw 3'6" when at hull speed and the controlling depth without droughts is 5'5" so it should be fun. From Elizabeth City I think the Neuse is about 90 miles south. I plan on starting to plan the trip over the winter for the snowbird trip late next fall. It was a pleasure meeting your wife, son as well as you Mike. You are a stand up for real guy.

I did the Dismal Swamp Canal in the early 70's when we took my father's sailboat from Ft. Lauderdale to Annapolis. All I can say, is that it is appropriately named!

It was a pleasure meeting you and your wife, as well.

Not for another few weeks yet Dave. Today was a special treat.
